Problems with laptop & wireless connection

Hi I'm looking some advice regarding a wireless connection for a laptop
I installed a D-Link wireless router to the main pc which is working fine (connected through ethernet), but am having trouble getting a laptop to connect
I have installed everything as normal and when I check network connections it shows the D-Link as being connected and running fine, signal strength excellent. I cant access the internet from it though and I have no idea why not
I'm a complete technophobe and have no idea about computers so hope I've described whats happening ok, but if anyone can make suggestions to me I'd be very grateful

Had a similar problem. Can you tell me whom is your provider (ISP).0

Yeah it's BT broadband, I dont understand it though as I'm online on the main pc now and it's all going great, it's just the wireless connection with the laptop I have here beside me
This is my parents broadband you see, I have the same dlink router for my broadband at home with madasafish and have no problems there either
I thought maybe it's something on the laptop stopping it or something, I really have no idea

Right what you need to do is boot up your pc desktop. Then right click on your internet explorer icon (Usually in start up options if not on desktop). Click on properties and note down what your home page is. Repeat process for laptop as you are using the same line as your desktop and then apply.0

If you have BT broadband then you need to click internet explorer and tell it to log onto http://www.bt.com webpage and download the BT yahoo installer to use the laptop at your parents house if you have a different ISP.0

I think I'm confusing you and myself here haha
The main pc and the laptop are my parents, it's my dad's work laptop. So they both belong here and I'm trying to get both to run from the one modem. The main pc is what I'm using now from the modem so it's obviously working fine.
The problem is accessing the internet from the laptop. The d-link is showing as connected and is showing as excellent signal strength although I cant access the internet.
If I'm continuing to confuse please say as sometimes I type and I dont explain so well

Try temporarily disabling any firewall and see if it works then.
What does it say in Internet Explorer when you try to access a web site? If there is a 'Diagnose Connection Problems', click that. See http://support.microsoft.com/kb/926431 for more. Which operating system is this?
Try Control Panel - Internet Options - Connections tab - Setup.0 -
Click on your internet explorer on your laptop to activate the window of the explorer.0

Now in the top window slot put in the address http://www.bt.com and you will be bought to the bt web page. Do a search for bt yahoo installer and press the link to install the program0
