Energy: Find the cheapest supplier & earn cashback

This all sounds plausible but you need nerves of steel if you're not up for the fight. Demands for huge sums with little time to pay can be quite intimidating for those who don't understand the situation.

I don't think we are going to be able to participate in the cheap energy club deal because our meters for both gas and electric have never been registered correctly and our suppliers, British Gas and Swalec are stating that to correct this could take weeks!!! Surely this is just administrative in updating a database - so why does it have to take so long - meaning that we will not be able to make a potential saving of £493pa as our meters will not be registered before the cut off date for the energy club deal
What makes it worse is that British Gas knew of this problem back last year.
Any suggestions for what action I should take on this?0 -

Surely you can sign up for the 'deal' now, and allow the correction to be dealt with in the period (weeks) before it takes effect? Won't the MSE website allow that?
Failing that, I wouldn't worry too much. There are always new deals coming on, and in my case the Energy Club prices were no different from the normal prices. I switched but not to the 'special' deals.0 -
I switched from my current eon tarrif to this new one, yet all i have received is a "thank you for switching" email on the 30th, nothing since!
Oh well, no news is good newsLive for what tomorrow has to bring, not what yesterday has taken away0 -

Morning indierocker85
Glad you've received the email confirming your move to the new MSE Collective Switch tariff.
We'll write to you with details of your new tariff including prices and contract terms.
You'll receive the letter within the next 14 days. This is a bit longer than with usual tariff switches because of the special circumstances with this product. Switches are being dealt with manually by a dedicated team rather than going through automatically.
Also, if you've registered with our website, there'll be a delay between switching and the online account being updated.
Sorry for the delays indierocker85 but hope this helps explain.

The headline on the big switch is
"We've negotiated cheaper than the cheapest energy deals"
Well not true actually. I just did the comparison via the website, and it turns out that SPARK energy is cheaper than the cheapest deal (EON)
When the results came up, there was a suggestion that although I am on a cheap deal, I might consider a lock in of a year via EON
So my SPARK energy deal is 10% cheaper, and energy prices are falling. Why would I want a lockin?
I really think Money Saving Expert ought to know better, at best it's misleading, and at worst................0 -

Very true. Cheap Energy Club is riding on the back of MSE's established reputation, but is sliding away from the Money Saving bit in favour of business.
Quite a sad change in ethos on here since Martin Lewis sold MSE and his name to the commercial enterprise who now own it, IMO.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the In My Home MoneySaving, Energy and Techie Stuff boards. Are you sure? It says cheaper than the cheapest, and by far the cheapest, neither of which is true any more.
OK, it's been superseded only very recently, but it says it again this morning, even to people no longer on the mailing list, and the link to view the winning tariffs (sic) is not to a live up to date comparison but is from when the article was written.
