Have done all the figure on the comparison sites and will probably go for the Scottish Power offer with £55 cashback from Quidco.

At present we're with with Scottish Power for elc only and Sc Gas for gas so if I now go for the Scottish Power offer for dual fuel will this qualify for the cashback offer?

And also if someone could help me with this please, on the Quidco site when you click on the 'Get Cashback' link, it asked for bank details for BACS payment and the last box is for password. Which password are they looking for, is it your bank account password, as we don't do online banking??

    Thank you

    According to quidco,

    • This retailer does not pay cashback if any voucher is used.
    • Cashback will not be paid for energy retention sales, new customers only. Cashback is not paid for prepayment meter transactions.
    • It can take up to 10 days for Scottish Power to send you confirmation of your purchase.
    • Cashback will only be paid for orders placed completely online. Cashback is only payable when you opt to pay by Direct Debit only.
    • This offer is not applicable to existing customers or to any members who have recently applied for cashback with Quidco and ScottishPower and have a pending application.
    • Any members reported to us as applying to Scottish Power with fraudulent details or intent to deceive will have their Quidco account and cashback terminated without notice. There will not be prior notice.
Then after you click to acknowledge you have read and understood this, on the next page, one of the terms states:
Cashback will be paid for new customer applications only. If you change an existing tariff you will not receive cashback.

That page asks for several details (name, postal address, email address) but I don't see any request for a password.

That must come later I guess, but I think I've already addressed your query :)
  • Thanks for all that info Wywth, that's really helpful.:)

I was getting asked for it on the first page when I clicked on the Get Cashback link, it asks for bank sort code, account numner, name of account holder and then password. It won't let me passed it, it's a mandatory field.
  • Hi

I would like to change to a fixed price supplier, but I use a payment card at paypoint for gas & electric & I don't want to pay any other way. Would this inhibit me from doing this.

No, but only E.on are coming up for me as currently offering a fixed tariff for those on a PPM ... and they are not very cheap even allowing for the fact the price is fixed, and there's an early exit fee applicable too.

Consider all the options, not just a fixed price tariff, carefully.

So which ones that MSE suggests in the article would you think is unreliable???

    :money:
  • After reading this article, I did a comparison to see if we could save a few quid on the gas and elec.

imagine my shock and surprise when I found out, if we carry on with a dual fuel deal and switch supplier, we have been quoted a £330/yr SAVING!!!

If we split the gas and elec up and do individually with different suppliers, this saving goes up to £430/yr!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Add a bit of cashback into the mix and thats £460 in the bank.

I cant believe we were overpaying by that much.

:T Thanks for the info! (and the kick to switch) :T

I'm currently on Sign Online 23 with Npower and it expires in November.

When I use the comparison sites and enter my tarriff as Sign Online 23 they all tell me I will lose money but this is obviously only until November.

Given the imminent price hike, is it worth me switching now? Or by the time the switch happens will Sign Online 23 likely be finished?

    Thanks
  • I filled all the forms out in August to switch to First Utility. As I had not heard anything, I phoned up this morning but was told the application for some reason had gone through twice and each had corrupted the other so it hadn't been progressed. They should have notified me but didn't.
    Pretty crap service.
I now have to start again and wait another six weeks - meanwhile prices have gone up and my gas and elec use has gone up with the cold weather.
Has anyone else had any problems with First Utility as so far their customer service is not receiving many points.
