Energy: Find the cheapest supplier & earn cashback

  • Any EDF customers on Fixed S@ver v2 are now in the last 6 weeks of their contract, which ends 30/9/12. The tariff has a £25/fuel early termination charge if you switch supplier (so £50 for dual fuel), and may also be applied if you switch tariff's with EDF.

However as per another thread, you can switch to the Blue +Price Promise April 2014 tariff without incurring a penalty. In fact you can stay on the slightly cheaper Fixed S@ver v2 until it expires and then move onto the Blue tariff by filling out the form at:

    https://www.edfenergy.com/feelbetter

In fact I received a letter this morning through the post with that exact link (note it may resolve to a different address: https://www.pages05.net/sites/feelbetter but it's kosher).

By signing up via the link, you can lock into the new tariff from 1st Oct (even if it gets withdrawn before then), stay on the current cheap fix. I recommend you submit a meter reading on 30th September to ensure the next bill reflects actual not estimated usage on each tariff. And remember, the Blue tariff has no exit penalties if something cheaper comes along.

I just used a comparison site using accurate figures for my annual usage. The site told me I could SAVE up to £250 by switching. But it estimated my current supplier's charges at £250 above what they actually were! I think the problem arises when I am paying the SAME price for day units (I have ecomony 7) and the recommended new supplier charges a higher amount for the first 225 units per quarter. How can they possible work out figures for that? And then tell me how much I will save?

Hi, can anyone advise if the £70 cashback deal with Scottish Power Online Energy Fixed November 2013 via the MSE and Moneysupermarket links is still available? i see different reports of closing dates for applications. Current one seems to be by Sunday August 19. Many thanks.

I just took the SP deal today. I haven't seen any contradictory cashback offer end date other than next Sunday. When I put in my estimate usage via MSE, it comes us with recommended tariffs and predicted savings. It also states the cashback which shows as £70 for SP. I took a screenshot as I don't think any other confirmation of the cashback is given. But I'm not worried about this not being paid. It's, I assume, pretty reliable as unlike quidco, there's no cookie tracking risk. Because of the way the MSE link to SP is done, SP will clearly have received a customer from the MSE site.

I also received a confirmation MSE email "Your application has been sent to SP".
  • Like many, I signed up for the SP deal today, my first time using a link through MSE and I'm just seeking reassurance that I followed the correct procedure -- I did not sign in anywhere but simply clicked the MSE newsletter link to <Moneysupermarket> then completed the comparison/selection routine there. As Antonio1 says, there's no confirmation of cashback nor clarity about how the two separate sources are linked. Obviously SP have all my details and their cashback should be OK: do they share my details with MSE to allow that cashback element to reach me. Is my £70 OK? Anyone ......?

Not just free wine but a saving of £180 per year just for using the MSE link.

    Thanks Martin! :money:

Has anyone got experience of first:utility?
Their fixed tarriff is coming up cheaper for me now I'm coming to the end of my EDF fixed saver v2. The EDF blue deal sounds good at first , until you compare its charges with others.

If you search for them on this board you will get some threads.

Try posting in a new thread to get some opinions as its less likely to be seen on this thread.

Does anyone know if Money S
upermarket is still paying £30 for dual switch? I followed the link from Martins weekly email but there is no mention of cashback.I googled it and their terms and conditions say it only pays if there is a banner at the top of the page stating the cashback, but there isn't one. :(
