  • i agree wtith the OP, someone said that in 5 pages two people asking for help were missed, imagine if u were one of those two people. How would you have felt not getting any answers? What would u have done, probably carried on spending and getting in deeper trouble!

No. I would have used a bit of common sense when I first signed up, to 'lurk' to get the flavour of the forum & find out what sort of help was being offered & who by (are debt professionals posting, is help dependent on how long you've been a member?). Once I felt sufficiently comfortable & informed enough to post, I'd have posted my question & then waited for a reply. If I didn't get an answer in a day or so (I'd have waited that long or even longer, because I'd have realised before posting that everyone is voluntarily here), I'd have posted again, either in the same thread or a new one, or used the 'Search' facility to look for the answers I needed if I hadn't already used it.

If someone is so desperate for debt advice that not getting as many replies as quickly as they wanted/expected to would send them out spending more money, they are probably in need of more intensive help than this forum can give. Whoever's to blame for them making the decision to spend more money, it's certainly not anyone posting here. It's rare for a day to go by without me posting on the bankruptcy board, but I take no responsibility for any spending decisions other people make whether I've posted or not. Everyone posting is doing so by choice, & it's also the poster's choice to post, wait/search for answers, or ignore every word. Hearing of other people's experiences is very useful, but professional advice is important too. Everyone with debt is over 18, & they're supposed to be able to make adult decisions. There has been some light-hearted banter about the OP's initial post in this thread. Well, I've been on other forums (with some debt professionals posting in their spare time) where such a post would have got them told to either wait for a reply or 'do one', because other members have got lives to lead away from the computer screen etc. ;)

I'm really not having a go at the OP here, but all posters have to understand that no-one is obliged to respond. To me, it doesn't matter where they get help from, as long as they get it in the end. If they don't feel able to wait for replies here (for whatever reason), they are free to go to other forums to seek assistance, or google "debt advice" or something similar. Somewhere along the line, 'personal responsibility' has to play a part. :)

PAP - your diary has over 38,000 views and over 2,000 replies. By any definition, your diary is very popular. Why do you want to deprive people of what they consider to be a valuable resource.

PAP - am I missing something here? Was this levelled at you? I want you to stay. What you get up to in your own diary is up to you... I'm guessing it was to do with diaries? I don't do diaries, I can't even devote that much commitment to a TV programme or my own diary.

I hate how judgemental we all seem to be getting. Like plenty of us have said before, we all have the choice to go elsewhere. We also all have the choice to stay, and to post what we like, read what we like and respond to what we like (OR NOT is the key thing here). We have the choice to socialise, or ignore, people that we like, or not. I would hate to see otherwise.

  • ztd you have pm

Right i am here to grovel, i was out of line ~ right i did think it was aimed at me because i am stupid, right here is what i am talking about.

Got the impression of attention seeking in one - user always posting about how hard done they were, and seekin people to come along and praise them or get sympathy.

now i read that as ~ Got the impression of attention seeking in one user always posting, about how hard blah blah blah

when it prob means and reads to all of you ~ Got the impression of attention seeking in one, a user always posting about how hard done they were, and seekin people to come along and praise them or get sympathy.

Now i dont know which one it was supposed to be or is/isnt i dont frankly care, but here are my sincere appologies to you for causing a fuss. I guess i am still to young to be socialing with adults :rotfl:

    sorry pap

To be fair if your post asking for advice is missed you would post again asking it slightly different. Also there is loads of stuff you can look up while you are waiting for a response and flicking through things you see the signatures with the reductions on them. There is room for both.

I think we should all drop it now.

I know we have most of us meant well, but it's leaving a bad taste in my mouth. Can we just drop this thread and carry on regardless?
  • I agree with silvercharming...can this thread just be locked now? Enough has been said...lets just move on and agree to disagree...
