Time to come clean vsman1, this isn't your first visit here on MSE is it.

Your posting style seems very familiar to me and I'm sure others too. I've no intention of feeding you any longer, I'll leave you to it.

I have to bear in mind that you're under the impression that EU law doesn't apply in the UK which isn't, at this moment in time, completely true.

    Will this convince you?
The EU directive that covers the subject being discussed is:"Directive 1999/44/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council of 25 May 1999 on certain aspects of the sale of consumer goods and associated guarantees"
    https://eur-lex.europa.eu/legal-content/EN/TXT/?qid=1573665768205&uri=CELEX:31999L0044

This is a directive and what exactly is it directing EU member countries to do?
    Transposition

    1. Member States shall bring into force the laws, regulations and administrative provisions necessary to comply with this Directive not later than 1 January 2002. They shall forthwith inform the Commission thereof.

And there it is in black and white.
The EU directive is not a law that must be followed in the UK. The UK must bring in its own legislation to cover the requirements of the directive.

The advice that I've read is quite definitive in proscribing what EU consumer law states though? I'm not entirely sure if there is legislation that supersedes what you've posted but going from the official "Your Europe" website, it seems quite clear cut (at least to me).

It convinced Amazon anyway (after they tried fobbing me off).

You're almost there! The EU release a directive and the UK has to implement that into law. The Consumer Rights Act 2015 goes above and beyond this directive.

Instead of looking at 'Your Europle' , look at the Consumer Rights Act 2015

I did, thanks, the "Your Europe" site directly links to it under the United Kingdom section.

If you like you could go onto another forum and post your advice on that forum,. if your told the advice you give is wrong then mse wins, if they agree with you then you win.

I feel that you've been incredibly rude and patronising (but then so have several others). As I said you can disagree with me and state your reasons why you disagree with me. You're under no obligation to listen to what I have to say and vice-versa. I used the advice I've found from an official EU source online to help with my own fight with Amazon and it worked, and I wanted to pass that help on if someone else is in a similar position. My understanding is that UK Consumer Law, of course, applies but while we are in the EU there is an underlying legislation in place. That, at least, is my understanding.

Maybe Amazon just gave in and helped you.

    Of course.

vsman1 if you want we can carry it over in the discussion board.

Non of this helps much as the Vendor will simply point to the fact that they have a report from the Manufacturers which states the machine is working fine.
I am not surprised that they are not doing anything else... Why would they?
