I didn’t claim the houses would disappear.
    Owner occupiers would buy.
They tend to occupy less efficiently e.g. 6 immigrant renters might be replaced by 2 owner occupiers.

I’ve never said houses would disappear.
My point was there would be insufficient housing for the 1/3rd who cannot buy particularly in the short term (as labour couldn’t provide an alternative quickly). I

There will be less immigrants happy to sleep 6 to a room after Brexit IMO, they won`t be in the country, so that isn`t going to save the property market.

Some landlords are full of bravado. I wouldn't expect them to continue letting out if it wasn't prudent for them to continue. However they are just winding themselves up thinking it won't be prudent because they hate the idea of socialism.

They are not wound up at all and a labour win is still a very low probability.
These people are successful people with flourishing businesses, nice home, diversified portfolios, and yes Porsche in the garage etc.
Yes they don’t like the idea of socialism, they are just being sensible and saying they will cut their cloth to suit if circumstances changed.
It’s crash trolls saying selling homes and winding up one part of your portfolio is a big emotional deal.
To people with several multiple income streams it’s not a big deal to change tack, it’s just business and just something at the back of their mind., but still very unlikely.

Well brexit isn’t a guarantee (some parties want to stop it).

What does Iranians or Vietnamese coming here have to do with brexit or Europe.

I’m sure you’ve notice that people are (very tragically) dying to get here. Some swimming the channel with one flipper.

Why will non-Eu migrants from very poor countries cease to come here post brexit?
Even with the worst predictions it’s still better than Syrian and Vietnam and even if it wasn’t traffickers would still lie.
I would love this activity to stop, but it wont stop just because crash trolls want it to.
Sadly traffickers will continue to traffic and I don’t see how brexit will affect nonEu migration.

Also there are plenty of UK students and young people in London living 6 to a house. It’s called a HMO and is not uncommon for young people in our cities.

Most BTL are novices IMO, they were sold a dream of free money so that the banks could lend more, and as stated already the housing stock doesn`t change, just who owns it, you don`t need to get anything out of a cupboard.

I agree with you that amateurs who haven’t done a proper business plan or risk assessment would fare worst In the context of regime changes in general and unlikely socialist government changes in particular.
This is the chance you take when you speculate and you are more exposed if you don’t take a thorough approach to the risk assessment.

The chances of a socialist government are low and the chances of then policy being implemented in the way being discussed is even less likely.
Unintended consequences are highly likely e.g. if discounts are for long term tenants then landlords will no longer provide long term lets (for example).

    Brexit = less immigrants

Comedy gold. People that voted Brexit to reduce immigration are going to be very disappointed. There's going to plenty of immigrants from far reaches of the world to make up for the drop in workers post-Brexit (if it ever happens). U.K. Will be desperate for trade deals and the uk taking on a foreign workforce will be part of that.
  • The mess ups with Nigel and Boris make it look increasingly like Labour have a chance through the middle of all this mess.

Looks like we will have that long overdue property correction sooner than anticipated

Not according to the betfair markets of 'most seats' and 'overall majority' which have moved very strongly in favour of the Tory's. Their prices have shortened to 1.07 and 1.66 respectively, Labour in the same markets are currently 15.5 and 32!

    Makes me laugh.
Danny merely states what he desires with nothing at all to back it up.
chuck’s argument is backed up with some quantitative facts.

Those who want a crash have no arguments that stand up to scrutiny merely desire.
I’m very disappointed by how well the tories are doing after the floods, Boris appears to be made of Teflon, alas I can’t just ignore the data.

Just under a month to go, but that could prove to be a long time in politics. I would prefer the Tory party to win, but it will be what it will be, regardless of what I want.

I voted remain, but I just want the whole thing over now, I've moved on accepted it, I just wish that everyone else would too. But I don't deny people the right to want or push for what they believe in.
