I found it ok doing online, just not receive the application to sign and return.. thats the delay. I'm waiting to see if i need to provide any ID as i'll need to get certified copies done but don't want to get them done if not needed due to cost :)

Decided i'm going to wait till Tuesday and if nothing then will see about re-applying online OR calling them. Shame as i am off work at the moment so wold of been an ideal time to get any certified copies done and sent back.. oh well.

What cost are you incurring when certifying your documents?

I just ask someone at my workplace to certify them, never been a problem and I have done it with Coventry and other institutions.

The list they mentioned needed a professional person, i don't know anyone on the list so would need to be a solicitor to certify.

Seems the Coventry also allow certification by post office staff - although I find that is easier said than done when I wanted to open an account directly with post office savings! Accountants and public sector officials (e.g. teachers, GPs or police officers) would be eligible.

You can also get your local MP to certify your documents - so if they come round canvassing be ready.......

    Update:

Got the form today, signed it and put it in the post, unfortunately no account number etc so got to wait for that so i can register for online banking and then transfer funds as required.

Any idea how long it takes to get the account info from here and then how long to get online login info once register?

    Thanks

In my experience Coventry like sending paper - but it shouldn't take too long

You will need to register for online services and get an account login ID (by email or post), set up an online password and probably also get a grid card (needed for the final login stage - i.e. what number is in grid reference B1, D3, E5?).

  • Just a bit of feedback …. Applied online this morning, appeared painless, few minutes to fill in and issued with an account number and sort code straight away. Confirmation in the post. Immediately registered for online access, only took a minute, again confirmation and online gubbins to be sent by post. So far, quite impressed.

Lets hope the postal bit is almost as quick as the online bit!

Thanks for comments above, very useful before I applied.
