Nifty November's NSD Challenge

Yesterday was NSD 8 for me.
No plans to spend today (although we do look low in office milk). Keen to get some momentum going with my NSD's after a bit of a spendy weekend by my standards.0 -
Yes will definitely avoid in future Cathybird.....0

Just reviewing my budget for this month. From last pay day I’d allowed my self £450.00 to live on this month, this included a couple of direct debits, food, petrol etc. I’ve got £30.00 left to last me to pay day on the 25th. I’ve spent most of the money on food. Just totted it up and it’s approx £55.00 per week, this includes things like wash powder and other house hold cleaning bit n bobs as well as food. There’s me and OH and a cat at home, so I’m sure I could reduce this with some planning.
The other biggest spend was the shoe boxes I did for the Samaritans purse appeal, which was unplanned for, and I did go a bit over board, but it’s such a good cause....
I do wonder sometimes if I’m a bit hard on myself and if that’s why I’m getting a bit down in the dumps about it all being a slog? I need to find things to do that are cheapish, or free so any ideas for a hobby please feel free to share!
Anyway, I’m off work for a couple more days so I’ll have time to give it some thought!
Have a great day everyone, wrap up warm it’s freezing out xxx0 -

Happy Monday, re low-cost hobbies, it depends what you like doing. I like reading and cooking and also have an allotment where I grow fruit and veg, but while those can be low-cost they can also be very expensive - it depends how you approach them. Going for walks in green places can be cheap as there are lots of those in this country even in the cities. Exercising can be cheap. What sort of thing do you like?0

Hey Happy Monday - I have an overactive brain and always try cramming in lots of things to stop me feeling bored.
It depends on whether you like doing activities by yourself or in a group. If you feel creative and expressive, or just want to be a consumer of culture. If you think outdoors is nice and bracing, or just want to stay inside where it's warm.
You could spice up your existing hobbies like reading or watching films by adding challenges. Say, commit to reading n books by x date, and adding reviews to Goodreads/IMDB, or start a themed blog project, maybe a photo journal to show off the walks you go on.
Consider finding a local Parkrun. Or try geocaching - there are free apps. Even Pokemon Go!
Have a look on Meet Up if there are any free groups near you, or events at the library. Things like book discussions, board games, sports, art, socials.
As for this board, clocking up another NSD on Monday. Ran out of squash, but resisting the shops and drinking my interesting teas instead. Well, it's certainly cold enough!Keep reading books!
August grocery challenge budget £150, £90.14 spent in total - £59.86 remaining.0 -
Another NSD yesterday so am on 14/15 - today should be one too so hopefully will make target!Mortgage: £81,154.58 (03/19) - £54,849 (02/24)0

Well done wishus
:T:T, shopaholicnumber1
:T:T and Purplemumof2
:T:T Fantastic efforts
Wishus, really like your advice - lots of good stuff there. Libraries are such a good community resource and if we don't use them we'll lose them.
shopaholicnumber1, I've got you on 14 NSDs, but give a yell as soon as you get to target!
Purplemumof2, I'm all good, hope you are tooI'm aiming for 11 NSDs today.

Thanks for your ideas Wishus and Cathybird, much appreciated. I do enjoy exercising and have a few weights at home, and I have a subscription to on on line fitness programme which I do, and I’ve also just joined an organised running club, which is only £2.00 per run. I had thought about park run and will definitely give that a go. I have been thinking about doing yoga at home as well so will investigate that too.
I was having a mooch round the charity shops today and noticed a few jigsaws, I thought about doing that too. I love reading too and must get my kindle out.
Thank you for all your suggestions xxx0
