Mobile phone question
Options
Hi all for many years I have been using a basic mobile phone, PAYG, which allows me to text or make calls.
I would now like to get one which gives me access to the Internet as a light user. I would be grateful for any suggestions as to what to get.
I would prefer to get something without a contract.
Sorry but I am a 75 year old technophobe and know nothing about mobile phones!!
Thanks for any replies.:)

Smart phones you basically get what you pay for. What's your budget?
You can normally use your existing SIM card in the new phone, if not you can get a "blank" one from your provider and transfer your number to it so it fits in your new phone.
As for internet you can use it on wireless down your existing internet connection (this won't cost you any more than it already does) or go over the mobile network (on some PAYG tariffs this isn't particularly cheap but you can usually get a bundle that lasts x days that gives you y amount of data).0 -
there are so many options if you want to look in that, but first you have to come up with a budget.0

As others have said, what's your budget plus, how do you currently access the internet?0

My recommendation is a decent phone around £150 - 200 Android phone
Then spend £10 a month on something like Giffgaff or Voxi
I suggest you ask around your friends and family what brand they are using. It would be easier for them to help you if you use same brand as they do.0 -

As above we need to know what your budget is for the phone, also what PAYG deal are you on (how much do you pay and for what exactly).0

I have Virgin broadband and use a tablet or desktop computer to access it
A bundle with X number of days sounds interesting..:smileyheaMagenta0 -

My budget for a new phone would be as low as possible! About £120 max. Yes an Android phone sounds good for me as that is what I have on my tablet.
I access the I nternet via Virgin.
I am hoping to visit some friends in different parts of France but first of all my sister in Australia who is rather ill.
That is my reason for getting a new phone.:smileyheaMagenta0 -

What is ID? I haven't heard of that one?:smileyheaMagenta0 -
