New tenancy agreement states you must pay tv license whether you own a tv or not?

            I don't know how a third party can even check that you have a current tv licence. You could buy one, show them the confirmation, and then immediately claim a refund for 11 months without them knowing.0

            The clause regarding TV licence in unenforceable because there is no loss to the landlord whether you get one or not
 Maybe he just wants less hassle when it comes to the next tenant.
 If the OP is handing over a deposit, when they leave the landlord could point out they they are receiving red letter billls from TV licensing and with-hold their deposit.
 Its ok to have a chat with the landlord, but if he wants it in the contract, he me he older and thinks everyone watches TV.0

            Does the Landlord have a responsibility to inform the TVL that the Tenent will be paying the licence?
 No. In fact such a disclosure would likely breach GDPR as there is no legitimate reason to share personal details

 OP - there's people here who understand how tenancies and the law works; and there's people who take information in and learn and provide helpful advice; and then there's those that rely on 'dave from the pub'0

            Ignore it: No judge would evict you for not abiding by that clause whilst having no TV. And what else is the landlord going to do?0

            Why not ask the LA why the clause is in the agreement,for what purpose...at least it will prove to them that you actually did read the terms rather than just sign it and ignorein S 38 T 2 F 50

            Just sign the contract. There will be no come-back.
 Or make an issue of it and find the LL/agent no longer wants you as a tenant and re-advertises the property.0
