So ok for anyone over/down there, but no good for those of us in the rest of the country.

Yeah, that's why I wrote South East.

A member or employee of The Co-operative Group (The Co-op) in London and the South East Region. This includes: Berkshire Buckinghamshire East Sussex Greater London Hampshire Isle of Wight Kent Oxfordshire Surrey West Sussex

So ok for anyone over/down there, but no good for those of us in the rest of the country.

There is some ambiguity there, as The Southern Co-op seems to be a half separate entity from the main one, different branding, different membership card, separate discount arrangement from the other scheme.

Resolving this confusion isn't helped by shops appearing on both Co-op website branch searches.

The Southern Co-op membership card is orange and white, and the credit union only says if you have this blue Co-op card. On the other hand, the Co-op membership page linked from the CU has pictures of both card types.

    Maybe a phone call ...

PrizeSaver now available at London Capital Credit Union https://www.credit-union.coop/content.asp?section=272

I can't figure out whether they'll pay any interest on that account.

I’m just about to sign up and I notice the referral £10 if recommended by an existing member. Since I only became aware of this due to your post, I should put your details there so you get the tenner. Message me your member number for the referral.

Ok so i opened an acct with London Capital CU and deposited £200 - have accessed via the app and can see that £199 is in the Prize saver account and £1 is in a share account. Does that mean i could put another £1 into the prize saver so that i am using all 200 entries? Does the £1 in the share account count towards the prize saver entries if it is not actually in the prize saver account? Anyone else had the same and able to opine? Thanks

I had the same experience with a different CU, apparently it is necessary to hold their normal savings account, which has a minimum balance of £1. I even transferred across my membership fee, which was supposed to be deducted from the first deposit, but that wasn't taken.

Same here. I just shoved £200 into the prize saver in addition to the pound in the share account. If the worst comes to the worst I'm only down the interest in a quid.

  • Did anyone else's credit union ask for next-of-kin details in the application? What about people who don't have next-of-kin? Seems a strange T&C (if indeed it is a T&C) to discriminate against people who are completely alone in the world and have no living relatives.
