Yes, if you put yourself in the very big blind spot of a tank then you have to take some (not all) responsibility for doing so. Same as any prudent car driver should know to take extra care around HGVs particularly at roundabouts, junctions or on the motorway.Or you and your vehicle could come off very second best.

So considering that this thread is about a story where a driver dangerously passed the cyclists too closely while overtaking how exactly is that the fault of the cyclists ?

I refuse to get involved in the interminable arguments that Johnno always inspires in any forum he drops his acid. My comment is that it is a long time since I was on a bike, but I would hate to be riding one now. In my area of Lincolnshire, there are lots of cycle road races and time trials. The consequence of this is lots of training by lots of cyclists. I always give them room and I always pass them by the same space I would give to a car. We can coexist: it just takes commonsense on both sides. Unfortunately, IME that is in short supply nowadays.

I agree.

My driving is not perfect. I've made mistakes and been grateful when others have given me space. And I've avoided other collisions where I've spotted something amiss with someone's riding or driving and given them space.
