Spyware is always being updated and created, anti spyware companies release "definition files" to keep them upto date and give you a "update" feature.

In ad-aware click on "check for updates" and click the "Full system scan" button.

Take it to a fee charging pc expert shop.

Just a thought - are the anti-spyware programs the "genuine" article as they don't seem to work.

Did you download them from the Net or load them from a free magazine disk?

If the former I suspect you've loaded something claiming to be anti-spyware but in reality is exactly the opposite.

Spywareblaster will help prevent it getting there in the first place and Ewido, AdAware, Spybot Search & Destroy are the ones (for example) to clear spyware. Antivirus software will usually pick up viruses but is not so good at getting rid of trojans.

It could be that you keep visiting the same site again and again that is bringing the spyware in in the first place.

You say you haven't updated definitions - this is vital to catch things as updates are exactly that - up to date. Before running any of these programmes update them.

The above thread helped someone clean their pc from derbiz.

Please don't format your hard drive until you have tried absolutely everything. You will have to reinstall windows which can be a pain if you don't know what you are doing.

You can download Hijack This from here:

    http://www.spywareinfo.com/%7Emerijn/downloads.html

You then need to post the log from Hijack This on a web forum like this one:

    http://groups.msn.com/CommunityFeedback/general.msnw

They should be able to advise you.

i just downloaded and installed the beta version of Micro$oft's spyware program, and it's actually very good - found several nasties on my pc that spybot, adware, no adware, etc missed, and it gives you the option to download the nasties to Spynet.

I would say it's worth getting - especially as it's free! :money:

one thing though, before you can download it, Microsoft will want to scan your PC, to check whether your copy of Windows is genuine, if it is no probs, if it's not.....quite stupid of you to visit the Microsoft website!

Users of genuine Windows can get their copy of Spyware from here http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=321cd7a2-6a57-4c57-a8bd-dbf62eda9671&displaylang=en
