Turn off system restore (Start/all programs/accessories/system restore). Run Spyware S&D then let it delete the files. Turn System restore back on. Problem should be sorted. D/L Microsoft anti-spyware; it seems to be the best (free as well)....

Do you use IE6? IE6 with XP SP2 installed has stopped all my spyware I used to get as I get prompted now if something is trying to install itself whereas before it would just install it. All this without 99% of the programmes you listed though I do use Ad-aware every now and then but it hasn't found anything yet compared to prior to SP2 days.0

In Spybot S&D go to Tools then Resident and tick the 2 boxes for Tea Timer and SD Helper.
Also get Spyware Guard and Spyware Blaster, these stop stuff getting in rather than cleaning up after the event.
I have the above running all the time and running AdAware, Spybot, NoAdware and Microsoft AntiSpyware rarely finds anything now.
But don't forget to get the updates regularly just like with antivirus progs.0 -
Appologies for butting in on your thread paul2louise.
djohn2002uk, can Spyware Guard and Spyware Blaster be run alongside Adaware? I have a two week old pc and installed adaware today....ran a test and 53 somethings needed quarantined.

clear your visited websites history.
Set your security settings to medium high
and delete programs you recently installed in order of newest first - including anti-spyware programs, too many of which can access the same resources and cause your pc confusion.
Get Pop-Up Stopper Free version
Good luck.

ads1.revenue.net
look for and delete
C:\windows\system32\elitesij32.exe
for the other one
In the registry the following changes may have to be made.
copy the part in bold below into notepad and save it as noASD.reg
Doubleclick the file and confirm you want to merge it with the registry.
REGEDIT4
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Internet Settings]
"EnableAutodial" = "0"
[-HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ASDPLUGIN]
but I suspect the free Microsoft antispyware software will deal with both of these in safe mode, download thatEx forum ambassador

Pink, Despite what Browntoa and Mr Vincent say, you CAN safely run Spyware Blaster and Spyware Guard together without any problems. They are both written by the same company and compliment each other. They run in the background and they have no effect on Adaware or Spybot S&D or MS AntiSpyware or any other antispyware prog that I know of.
Indeed most PC Magazines advocate running all 3 spyware progs I mention above. You don't run them at the same time anyway so how can they interfere with each other. You just run each one when necessary.
I have been running them all except MS Antispyware for almost 12 months and MS AntiSpyware since it was released with no problems.
People really shouldn't advise others on things they obviously haven't tried and are just guessing at. The consequenses for the recipient of that "advice" could be disastrous and they don't have to pick up the pieces.0 -
