Free trial not allowed from Netflix

Like I said they can open the account with a free trial on another device they own, once the free trial has started they can then use that account on the TV to watch Netflix.
Netflix says that the free trial is at their discretion and "Members of households with an existing or recent Netflix membership are not eligible".
So if the OP has never had a Netflix account and considering their son is not a member of their household they should be eligible for a free trial of offered one when logging in from another device.0 -

However, I'm doubtful Netflix will allow it given that the OP's son will have somehow circumvented the geographic location lock in order to access his New Zealand account in the UK.0 -

The point is that the other person won't have been able to access another Free Trial from that device even if they were eligible.
I never said that they would be able to access a free trial from that device this is what i originally posted (which is also what you quoted):Restart your router to get a new IP address and then start a free trial from another device (such as the mobile, tablet or PC etc you are using to post on here) you can then log into that account on the TV to use it.
I can't see any reason why that won't work based on my experience with Netflix accounts.Moneyineptitude wrote: »Since the whole process is automated, the OP would have to appeal directly to someone at Netflix.

What makes you think you are unable to use your Netflix account in a different country?. I have used my Netflix account in several different countries by simply logging in and i didn't have to circumvent anything. Netflix don't restrict accounts being used abroad.0 -

What makes you think that?
It's always worked fine for me and Netflix themselves even say you can use it while travelling and it even says you can carry on using the account even if your relocate permanently.

Certainly, as I said earlier, it's still possible to use a VPN to mask the actual geographical location and so open an account which accesses content only currently available in other countries. Netflix is not as relaxed about this as they have been in the past, however.
All this is rather aside from the topic of this thread, of course.
EDIT:
Found this, which shows that Netflix does allow access to foreign accounts abroad, but content is limited to the country the account is accessed from. So only UK content on a New Zealand account accessed here, for example.

(Ha Ha I just noticed I provided the same link you provided at post #26:D )
So the OP would still have to make an appeal directly to Netflix to be granted a new customer trial, but my earlier point about it being a foreign account which signed in to his internet may now actually be an advantage rather than a hindrance...
It will certainly be interesting to hear how the OP gets on if he does decide to make such an appeal...0 -
As you could do a subscription for £5.99 a month to test the service and then upgrade it to use on more machines and get HD etc if it suits it seems a very small amount to worry about.0

There is a restriction on the number of items you use for viewing and I can't watch Netflix in Australia or New Zealand so not sure if they could watch here. I'm thinking he did sign up for a free trial on your telly.
Have you tried?
I know of two accounts shared across continents, including one UK / New Zealand with no problems.0 -
It appears that Netflix marks the device as having being used so even if you bought the TV from someone else, and they had used it for Netflix you will not be allowed a free trial.
Sounds kinda weird, have you tried doing a factory reset on the TV?
Potentially they could track you by ip address, but if you turn your router off for a while then you should get a new one.
Only problem is if it let you put in your name and address then they may have flagged it on their end.0 -
Two years after that post further down the line and Netflix are changing the rules .
