That kinda defeats the point because everyone would have to check every Advent post, every day to see if there are any marked at over £100.
The advents over £100 thread isn't a problem as it maintains itself ... or the forumites maintain it as they go, there isn't any need for a single topic to be manually updated.0 -
I do use the Advents thread (and the over £100 one as well) but I bookmark the thread and append the following to the end of the URL so that I don't miss a single post:
&goto=newpost
I would use the search function which you can restrict to posts made since your last visit but it just throws up no results (which is blatantly not the case) so that way isn't viable. I could set the order on the main board to newest thread to get all the A: threads to display in ascending order which would show every advent thread but also include ones that have not been posted in that you have to sklp past.0 -
So general consensus so far is not to have the front page then? Who is going to make the final decision on this? Shall we have a vote?
I think putting them all in one thread like this is still a good idea though, but that can be done by anyone, and without question the £100 thread needs to happen, I just don't see the need for someone to have to take ownership of the advents if very few use the front page.StayHome * StaySafe * BeKind0 -

I've added a 7 day poll, perhaps at the end if it's decided to just keep a thread with no front page I could ask a Board Guide to turn this thread into Advents 2019 and sticky it?#StaySafeWishing you a Merry Christmas and a happy, healthy New Year0 -

I don't understand your poll?:TA big thanks to all who post and sprinkling lucky dust to all who enter :smileyhea0 -
I don't understand your poll?
1. Bother with front page Advents thread? (no volunteers so far)
2. Just have Advent thread where they just get added to the end?
Basically means the as below descriptions:
1. if you want an Advents thread with an updated front page (no volunteers to do that so far)
2. if you just at least want an Advents thread where they just get added to the last page where you can pick them up from there (no front page update)
perhaps I should have another option, don't bother with any type of Advent thread? I'm not sure if I can add an option, I'll go and have a look. (just had a look and can't see how I can do anything with the poll options, does anyone know how I can?)#StaySafeWishing you a Merry Christmas and a happy, healthy New Year0 -

1st option is have a thread like the past few years where someone has to maintain the thread. No volunteers so far, and also most comments on this thread have said they don't actually use the front page anyway.
2nd option is to carry on with this thread where all the advents are just being added so that no one has to actually take ownership but all the advents are still in one place
Hope that helps xStayHome * StaySafe * BeKind0 -
Why not: Would you like an Advents thread? (no volunteers yet) Yes or no.
I personally don't use it so would vote no:TA big thanks to all who post and sprinkling lucky dust to all who enter :smileyhea0 -

Because there are 2 options at the moment that have been discussed on this thread, have the traditional thread, or just a running list that anyone and everyone can contribute to.StayHome * StaySafe * BeKind0 -
