I use a main advent thread, think it's really handy to see them all in one place!

Do you use the 1st page though where someone puts them all in a list or do you just use the thread to see them all in one place?

I'm just going to throw this out there...........

Do we even need one now that we are using the A: format for the advents?

As RavenRae states all the advents are together if you sort the board (pure genius to implement the A: - think it was sleepyjones who had the idea)

I don't use the thread (front or back!) - I keep upto date on the main board so can see when the ones i'm interested in are bumped with new post and then can organise the board to check all the As to catch any not bumped

However I'm assuming the front page is useful for those who do/don't enter specific sorts eg twitter, instagram etc

Still seems a lot of work for one person for presumably only a limited number of users

needs a strong argument and more support from members who do use to actually warrant having it

Yeah, the whole idea of the A: was that it would keep all the advents together and remove the need for the Advents thread.

However, in saying that, I do use the Advent thread and yeah, I do use the first page. I'm pretty selective about what I enter so It's good to have a big list that I can skim through and not have to trawl through 20 odd pages of A: threads. For the advents, I judge a book by it's cover and choose which ones to enter solely based on the name of the company / advent, the "Advents Over £100" thread (another great idea by me :D) means I don't really miss any good prizes so I can be as selective as I want and with the Advents thread I can dip in and out all day and not get confused by the constant bumping of posts rearranging everything so I lose my place.

If the advents thread didn't exist though, I could just create a list for myself and negate the problem, but I'm more speculating on how others might use the thread.

Do we really need an Advents thread?

It is such a big commitment in effort and time for the person doing it

They all go on the Main Board daily and the "A" makes it so much easier to find them

    I don't think so ;)

Personally although I do sometimes use the advent thread from the front page, I don't depend on it and could certainly live without it. As has been mentioned, the A: makes it so much easier to sort advent comps out, and it's no problem at all to make my own folders where I can bookmark the comps I'm interested in (and slowly delete them as I realise they are only offers or discounts :rotfl: :rotfl: )
So, given that it's a massive commitment for somebody to set up and maintain a thread, I'd vote NO we don't need one.
As long as anyone posting an advent comp remembers to use A: and not E:, it should be plain sailing!
