Vueling and damaging personal property, not luggage

  • Sorry mate, I wish I had the time to worry about sticker damage to my passport cover.

It is ridiculous to think anyone is going to take this seriously.

    Move on
  • My point exactly, designed to put on a passport, yet the staff member didn’t attach to a passport and predictable damage has resulted.

But you had your passport in a case........
  • In all my time flying has an airline put a sticker on my passport cover. It always goes on the passport, which is taken out of the cover for inspection.

Exactly why passport covers are a pain, as they need to be removed from covers for inspection.

Exactly why I asked for help on how to raise this, as it’s plain wrong. I’ll take your items, do things to them which if for a second I thought logically about it could damage them.
If it were obvious that the sticker would cause damage, why didn't you immediately remove it yourself? I can't see you getting anywhere with this.

There is nowhere you can go with this if the airline won't play ball.
If you are querying your Council Tax band would you please state whether you are in England, Scotland or Wales

But the protective cover is there to protect the passport, if the sticker was stuck on the passport itself then the cover would not be able to protect it, plus the sticker stuck on the passport itself could invalidate it. Isn't the whole point of the cover that it gets damaged instead of the passport?

Maybe if you had removed the sticker right after the flight instead of waiting a few days then it may have peeled off without causing damage, even easy peel stickers have a point at which they will no longer peel off.

I have a few stickers on my passport cover its never been a problem

Really? I thought it was pretty commonplace for passports to have bits of old labels still attached to the outside, not sure why anybody would view that as invalidating them.

I assumed OP meant stuck inside the passport because they had a cover on it so the sticker couldn't be placed on the outside of the passport itself. The only thing allowed inside the passport is official stamps, maybe it wouldn't be taken seriously enough for anyone to care but technically it would be defaced so could be refused.

If it was predictable damage then why did you not remove the cover before handing the passport over?

It sounds like you were well aware of what would happen so you should have taken the passport out of the cover yourself, would you be moaning this much if they had damaged the cover while removing it from the passport? Every airport I have been to has had very clear signs telling passengers to remove covers before inspection, it's not their job to do that for you.

why didnt you take the passport out of the cover, I bet those covers wind airport staff up, and I recall staff asking passangers to remove the passport from the cover. never felt the need for one myself.

I dont think you will get anywhere, what compo are you seeking

Actually no, I had hand luggage so had no idea they would ask to put it in the hold and attach a sticker, so I couldn’t predict that they would attach the sticker to the cover.

If I knew it was going to happen, I’d have asked them not to attach to the cover
  • how much is the passport cover worth?
