Airbnb UK nightmare

  • Theres more to this then you are letting on. I've googled as you suggested and it is mainly aimed at guests trying to get refunds through stating they will leave bad feedback.
Is this what you did to the host?

Take the 50% and run. You're crazy trying to push for 80%. How on earth do you justify that?

I dont know what your problem is? Are you my host? haha. There is nothing "more to this". Everything i have posted is factual. Airbnb confirmed it was extortion according to their policy, educated and warned the host about this. Im not sure why you insist this isn't the case? Its odd behaviour.

    From airbnb's terms:
"Hosts requiring a guest to leave a positive review or rating, or to revise a review in exchange for a partial or full refund, or reciprocal review. Hosts also can’t offer a free or discounted stay in exchange for a guest revising an existing review."

That is the term he broke. I haven't said anything to the host. He asked me not to leave a review, because he was giving me a refund, then said if I left a review he would withdraw the offer. So no I haven't done anything to break those rules and airbnb haven't said I have. Again what is your problem?

People told me I wouldn't get more than the original refund and I have. Im happy to carry on as it wont cost much in terms of time or money. Thanks your advice though.

    Yawn!

I ask because of the way you quoted what the replied to you implies there was a conversation before hand regarding feedback.

Carry on then, don't know why you are asking on here for. Think you might come unstuck when it gets to SCC asking for more then 50%.

Im going to LBA airbnb, have a friend with years of expertise in this.

Carry on then, don't know why you are asking on here....

I would take the "years of expertise" and hopefully report back with a 100% refund, compensation and a bouquet of flowers or something.

OP would have had a better case for a refund. If they had left once they found out some of the advertised goodies were not working. Rather than stay the 2 nights they had booked.
Also to get some of the things repaired in the 2 days. If only reported on day one would be magic.
    Life in the slow lane
  • FULL refund received.

    But thanks for the advice
  • What was in the hamper?

Find a similar Airbnb in the area without those facilities and claim the difference between the prices.

Send the owner a “letter before action” giving him 14 days to refund. Do NOT mention feedback. Send copies of the other Airbnb properties and their prices to justify your demand of % refund. If he doesn’t refund, then take it to court.

When you have your refund, then leave a factual review. Don’t rant as it will make you look flakey.

    50 hours??? Really?????

Hey the first part was really helpful thanks. It helped me focus on an achievable refund and when I demonstrated this to airbnb I think it really helped.

For some reason they have given me a 50% refund as well the owner, possibly due to a journalist helping, possibly not. Thanks again

All faults were reported within 15 minutes, except the projector which was reported when we first used it around 8pm. We were told upon check in that the pool and jacuzzi were not heated properly. Airbnb asked to wait to see if the owner/host could get everything fixed. He didn't manage to fix one fault during our stay
  • The host cannot see the review you leave until they have also written one so write what you like.
