What small DFW things will you do w/c 21st October?

When we start out on the DFW trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym.
But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free.
Examples could be hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.
So be proud of those small steps, they really are important! :money:

Morning Campers,
I've been progressing things pretty well with my new weekly 'Shape of the week ahead' kind of lists recently instead of my very detailed daily 'to do's'. So this week's money saving will focus on:
*Progressing anything that arrives from the solicitor after a major chase last week & hopefully some movement - basically, it sounds to me as though our case file had been filed away without what we agreed (twice) having been actioned. I expect to see some action this week for sure.
*Complete knitting large gift - Am on target to have it done by the end of the month.
*Do a bit more Christmas planning.
*Set November's budget & do all the budgetary admin which comes with that.
*Continue garden clearing - it's great free fitness - will be prioritising getting my free bulbs & plants into the areas I've cleared, tidying as I go.
*Big autumn clear-out of the pantry.
*Revisit all my little energy saving measures as they tend to fall by the wayside over summer, then need to kick in again big time this time of year.
*Research wood burning stoves.
*All my usual daily 'small things' - I think these are truly ingrained now. Hope so, anyway!
Wishing everyone a good productive week ahead,

Morning all and thank you to PF for starting us off this week.
I've been back to the dentist this morning and have another course of antibiotics to take as the last lot didn't completely clear the problem. I can't complain though as I rang them at 8:20 and they told me to go straight up. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that this helps as I'm not into week four of pain.
Other then that today I have/will
* two gym classes and refill water bottle there - all included in my £16/month membership Done
* radiator shuffle the washing away that dried yesterday Done
* check banking/update spreadsheet
* draw some money from the cashpoint later as a friend has bought us some train tickets and I want to have the cash on me for whenever I see her.
* ds2s settling in parents evening at the school tonight, I've not had a reply to an email about speaking with the ALN coordinator so will have to make a note to chase that up tonight.
* all meals from stores
* iron dh's work shirts , all other washing can be hung straight away Done
Thats my starter, I've finished my coffee so better crack on!
Take care all.Sticking with the "Small things" thread to keep up us on the straight and narrow.

Afternoon all!
Today I have/will:
* Check banks
* Use up odds and ends of loo roll that OH seems to have an aversion too!
* Update spreadsheet
* Apply for balance transfer now that I have all paperwork
* Log into energy account online to see if I can find meter reads (apparently smart meters aren't smart enough to show you that!)
* Call new energy supplier with meter reads as online portal isn't working
* Small shop at lunch
* Snap receipts
* Make HM pizzas for dinner
That's everything I can think of for now. Hope you're all having a good day.Debt as at 5 June 2023 - £15,600.89
Current debt - £5,435.00
Total paid off - £10,165.89 (65% paid off)0 -
Morning all :hello:
Today will be more of the same from yesterday....
Declutter another area
Check banking - one small insurance payout has come in, have transferred it to pay off something on just for points credit card
Reconcile just for points credit card
Something out of freezer for tea, continue with use ups out of fridge too
Some more washing
Pop to a bathroom showroom if we have time that's local
Try and see friend for a cuppa if we can both be at one of our houses at the same time!
Review shopping list, not sure if we can stretch past tomorrow as we want to do a packed lunch to go out for the day.
Have a good day everyone. Purps.0 -
Morning all*
* "All" seems to be smaller than usual - where has everyone gone?!
Today I have/will:
* Check banks
* Take chill out of freezer for dinner
* Take lunch to work
* Update spreadsheet - still not updated after the weekend which I think I'm putting off as was a bit spendy!
* Check OP/PA
* Cash out on PA
* Make CC payment
* Not go home after work! I've got a meeting this evening but rather than travel 6 miles home and then 8 miles back for the meeting for the sake of what will probably be 45 mins at home, I've bought my crochet with me so will do a bit at work and go straight to the meeting!
* Dinner from stores
Think that's everything!Debt as at 5 June 2023 - £15,600.89

Evening all
The thread is quiet recently, isn't it? I was awol yesterday due to a migraine which basically kept me in bed all day - I got up in the evening and wrapped up a couple of ebay parcels, and that was my sole accomplishment for the whole day
I was still a bit fragile this morning, but took more codeine and am ok now. Got quite a bit done, too
Washed my hair with my everlasting shampoo bar and left it to dry on its own
Load of washing almost dried out on the line, as it was a nice day
Now on airer in the lounge with the stove lit, to finish it off
Did a Yougov survey which brought me enough points to get over the finish line to claim £50 :T
Restocked my sales unit
Packed another ebay parcel, and posted all 3
Finished moving my garden pots around
Sorted out fridge. Sad to say I must confess to having to throw out a small piece of soft cheese that had gone way past even my very elastic tolerance limits :eek:
All food was from home, but I did buy some bread
Dinner was macaroni cheese with ham and mushrooms (fridge shrapnel) added
Checked banks and updated spreadsheet
And that will do for today I think!0 -
NSD magic Monday.
Sat through a day of lectures in Capital Tuesday. Need to sit and try to make sense of it in a bit. Work will refund train and parking. Only expense then was £3.60 for dinner.
Off to see uni son today will nee money for a shop for him and gas.
Vacuumed car on Sunday though so am quite prepared.
Thanks PF
Am cooking chili to bring to uni son, and for freezer.
Will also make some muffins, probably a double batch.
Have joined coop, should make me between £3.50- £5 a year, and possible offers.
Still feeling pooped about work issues, will take months to recover due to nature of problem.
Have a great rest of week, more long days ahead.Isa help to buy: 1000/3000 33%
