There are screws there - just pushed in - not even screwed up !
It looks as if they are supposed to screw into missing blocks of wood ?
No they're supposed to screw into the front edge of the cabinet. Can you post some pics please. How as it taken over 6 months for this to be noticed?

If there is nothing for the screws to bite into it's not AO's problem, although I would say that the installers should have told you. You need to check to see if there is anything for the screws to attach to. With the power off, and using two people, you can ease the oven out of the housing just a couple of inches. That will be enouth to see if there is anything there. It might be as simple as needing longer screws. It's also possible that the old oven used thicker screws and the hole is over size for the new ones. Without a bit of detective work you aren't going to find the answer.

When you pay for something to be installed - surely you are entitled to something that lasts longer than 6 months ?
looking at the link to the installation manual provided yesterday by HASBEEN - it looks as if there are wooden blocks that the screws are supposed to screw into - they are missing !!
So what do I do next ?
It appears that it was just sitting in the framework for 6 months

You are entitled to a safe installation. If it was dangerous, you need to stop using the oven, and make a chargeback on your credit card.

There are no blocks supplied with the oven. The screws are meant to screw into the carcass of the kitchen unit. If the holes in the unit are too large, that may be rectified by pushing plastic wall plugs in. As long as you don't end up splitting the wood. Or possibly longer screws are needed.

To see what's going on, you should pull the oven out about 20 cms, but hang onto it so it doesn't drop.
No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?

No idea - I am as confused as you are !
The screws are not "normal" screws though - they appear to have started life as STAR HEADED or TORX crews - but the "holes" have been rounded off !

You said the oven is not held. Hence the screws are not doing anything and can be pushed out from the inside.

I think you should get a man in.

  • If the whole oven pull out with ease, pull it out a bit and surely the screws will come with it? Then you can repair the carcass (if necessary) and fit appropriate replacement screws that will hold it in place.

Well that being the situation, it sounds like you'll need to get someone in to do it for you. If AO won't help (and I would suggest getting back in touch with them to point out they've left a disabled customer with a potentially dangerous oven installation) then any local handy man should be able to remedy the situation very easily.

Try contacting AO through social media (Twitter, Facebook, etc), they brag about their customer service, so calling them out on social media about leaving a disabled person with a dangerously installed oven, will not be a story they want shared too much.

It's often amazing how suddenly standards of customer service go up when you use their social media team to contact them.

Again, pics would be helpful so we can ensure you're looking at the right thing. For example, there should be four screws to affix the oven front to the cabinet.

Wh not pull the oven out a few inches so you can exactly where the screw holes are and whether they are still viable.
