We are quite happy with the Ideal boiler installed in our new build.

I should think it will be a bit cheaper than the WB.
  • Thanks for the heads up .
It's really a minefield out there . I suppose it's also best to have a reputable local installer which has a good rep. Plus of course a good extended warranty. So many hurdles and headaches ..
  • Just thought I'd add something that may be relevant .
The engineer who serviced the boiler over the last couple of days is from Morris Plumbing And Heating Ltd. As I say , he was very professional and thorough . Haven't got quote from him yet , but they do Worcester Bosch boilers solely or so it seems , after checking them out online . They seem to have a good reputation , which is obviously good to know .
Looking yesterday for quotes , it seems that I have to fill in brief questionnaires and then I get emails with the relevant quotes
    I haven't done this yet .
    Guess that's the next step

Join Which for a months trial - about a quid i think - and have a look at their latest report on boilers before you start looking AC. Just remember to cancel your membership and DD before the end of the month trial.

What a good suggestion harz. Seems the logical thing to do .:)
  • So, it's been a few weeks since all of the issues got fixed .
Everything works fine ..except now the pressure of the shower is not as strong as everything else . Maybe it's best to get a new boiler ..

Or look at why the pressure to the shower is not as good as it should be.

What shower is it? Is it one that works directly off the combi boiler or is it electric?

It may be the shower that is at fault, and not the boiler.

    Thanks Phil
It's one that runs off of a combi boiler .
My head has understandably been in knots regarding everything boiler related .
The appliance I have , is a mixer tap that fits onto the bath , with the shower hose coming from the bottom of the unit . It then is raised onto the wall fitting . On top of the unit in the middle, is a push / pull knob which alternates from bath to shower . The left tap is for water, the right tap is for temperature with a tiny button in the middle .

Looking at similar issues via google , I'd say that it could be a valve or something that perhaps needs changing / cleaning out on the mixer tap . The pressure is great on the cold water side of things . As soon as i turn the temperature tap to the middle where it should be or hotter, the pressure is poor but the water can get very hot .
Maybe a new unit to be installed ? Then again the bathroom is only 2and a half hears old ..

Not sure if it's relevant , but boiler pressure is 2.5 . Everything else is fine ..fingers crossed
