I always park on the empty part of the carpark miles from the shops, and 20 minutes later when I return with the shopping, there will be another car parked 5cm from mine on an otherwise empty carpark
They do it purposefully to annoy me, and make my day a little bit more miserable....:(

It isn't just to annoy you. Happens to me too.

Perhaps the conker tress predate the car park?

They have to pick on you if they can't find my car :D
I want to go back to The Olden Days, when every single thing that I can think of was better.....

(except air quality and Medical Science ;))

Living in Sarf Lundun and parking on the street - I shrug and accept it. My Focus was scraped in a pub car park at 3 months old, m'wife's new MX-5 lasted 6 weeks. If there's a choice of spaces I will avoid the SUVs and sprogbuses when I can as they do seem to be more likely to contain people who open doors wildly.

In the morning it looked like Father Ted's Rover after he's been at it with a hammer!
Being over-nerdy but the Rover wasn't Ted's car - it was a raffle prize. Ted's car was a blue MK V Cortina.
I need to think of something new here...

I always park as far away from everyone as possible, where its a £200 car or £20000. For my classics original parts are either near impossible to find or very expensive.
  • Nice car, two door Mercedes cab

Parent and Child spaces My first choice
    End of row second

    Otherwise, take up two spaces

I live in London...it's crowded on the roads and Tesco carparks! I'd like to think that my driving and parking are reasonable yet somehow my car has accumulated a number of dinks and dents over the years..some people are just unable to park or drive properly or don't care hence a number of those dents and scratches are likely from the carparks. My car is worth £800 at best, I have no car debt and couldn't care less if it takes a few more hits. I wouldn't mind a nice shiny lease car but given my experiences mentioned above likely won't go down this route. I get stick from friends and family about my banger.. all noise to me as long as it's reliable and practical I am happy. However I do not judge anyone who takes pride in their car...parking over two spaces in Tesco's though is pushing it ;)

Why do you think you have the right to occupy two spaces?

I have no desire repeatedly spend £XXX getting my doors resprayed because people can't open their doors carefully or don't realise a two door car needs more room than a four door which has smaller doors.

Our cars both have quite noticeable parking rash and door dings/dents. One needs a new door. On no occasion has anyone ever apologised or left their details.
The above seems good advice if you have a nice car and wish to avoid the actions of selfish thoughtless morons.
Funnily, i've been pondering a small Caddy sized van to facilitate a side project i'm going to work on. I havent seen much movement yet, but in theory markets like pickups and vans are likely to be hit by the upcoming downturn.
Would be interesting to hear if anyone has direct experience?

Why? So you can argue with them?
