Well it didn't last long before we hit a bump in the road
gear box and clutch has gone in the van so now that has to be replaced at a cost of £3k
luckily my mum has offered to lend us the money so it won't cost us in interest but it's not something I like to do. And the front tyres on the car are worn out so they need replacing at a cost of £260 (emergency fund will have to cover this for now and I will look at setting up a specific savings account for the vehicles once that is back up to £1k).
I feel like we are stuck in a constant cycle at the moThe cost of everything is so ridiculous at the moment. Our pet insurance went up £100 A MONTH this year
that's insane! But we can't afford not to have it just in case something happens.
I have managed to cancel Sky and go with UW for BB and energy. Our energy wasn't that bad but it's saving us £7 a month, every little helps as they say. And as we're in credit of £548.11 with our energy currently I will be getting that back which I can use towards the emergency fund/debts.
I got an extra £100 in my wages this month for a referral so will put that aside until I know what's going in and out with the changes I'm making and make sure we have enough to cover outgoings.
I've paid my self assessment tax for 2022-23 and just done hubby's one for the child benefit higher income charge, will log on to pay that tomorrow when it's updated. All that is put aside in an interest paying account so I know it is covered and at least have made a little it back on it!
I'm going to try and be more organised with meal plans this year. I don't do too badly with the planning, it's more the execution! I forget to get things out to defrost or I have a really long day and just don't fancy spending an hour cooking but I begrudge the supermarket prices and we also need to lose a little weight so I want to try and do a rolling meal plan. I have a delivery saver thing as I was wasting so much time wandering around the shop, I just have to remember to book the deliveries in time!
I have some equipment and stock to sell off from my business so hopefully that should make around £600 and we also have a load of the kids toys they no longer play with which should maybe make another £50-100 and give us some more room at home.October 2019 £29,348.60 / £41948.89 plus additional £2455.99 early 2021 (total 70% repaid August 2022)

I've just read through your diary and although you're hitting bumps in the road, you sound like you're on top of it all. Just think how bad things would be if you didn't keep track of it all. Being more organised with meal plans is something I strive for, and it's only me to feed! Good luck with selling off your business stock.

Well, we are halfway through the year so I thought I'd do an update on how things are going.
Thank you DaisyCheerings, yes things would be worse if I didn't keep track of it all, I just wish we could be given a break from things breaking! I feel like we just start getting somewhere then something happens and we have to start again. It's very frustrating!
So the current balances outstanding are:
£15798.65 credit cards paying off £350 pm
£15883 car PCP paying £337.85 pm
£4585 to my mum saving £100 pm to clear this
Savings
Emergency fund has £1000
Christmas fund £459.23
This morning hubby told me the head gasket has gone on the van so that's something else to pay out for that dwindles our savings yet againluckily he can repair it himself so we don't have the huge mechanics bill to pay. We've thought about getting rid of the van to get something else but we can't afford to at the mo. Getting the electric car really was a big mistake however we're stuck with that until the finance is paid off as it's only worth as much as we have left to pay and we wouldn't have any money to replace it with any thing else.
Hopefully by the end of the year I will have a much better paying job (I just have 2 more exams to go to be qualified) and hubby has some exams to do and he will be on the next pay band.October 2019 £29,348.60 / £41948.89 plus additional £2455.99 early 2021 (total 70% repaid August 2022)
