  • Well I'm sitting here on the laptop when I should be doing housework - my husband and son have nipped into town for a few bits from Argos - ring and reserves great - so during that time I wanted to blittz the upstairs of the house - i did downstairs yesterday as we had friends over but somehow when I am upstairs the lure of the laptop always gets me - the other day I had to do a deal with myself - like you can only go on there when you have put some washing on, loaded the dishwasher and peeled the veg for that evenings dinner ............. I've never moved so fast - I am starting to wonder about my sanity though - it was like I was talking to myself in my head and bargaining ......?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!

Step forward the men in white coats ...............

Ermmmm just so that I'm not talking to myself I'm telling you that I am logging off until I've stripped beds/put a load of washing on/put the ironing away ................... back soon

dumb blonde do as i do, cheack 1/2 new thread and post 1/2 posts (be strict with yourself) then go and do a task, be it cleaning/cooking/listing on ebay. then come back and start again :) always works for me
  • No I think you did the right thing ..............

Yesterday I did something similar - well not to do with an ex but it really annoyed my sister ........

I spoke to my sister and she said she had seen an ambulance drive accross the green towards my friends house (her partner works Saturdays) and she has 2 children - one aged 2 who my son plays with a lot and an 10 week old baby - my sister said 'did she live in the third house along' and I said no the second house - she then said but she has long blonde hair though I said yes - she said it was definately her as she was running towards the ambulance - I was like oh my god - my sister then said 'your not going to call her are you - it will make me look nosy' - so I said 'no it won't - I'm her friend' anyway my sister forbid me to call her - but I wouldn't do that anyway as she was probably at the hospital so I sent her a text around 5pm yesterday afternoon asking if everything was ok - if she needs me to do anything etc to let her know and I sent the family my love ............. I then drove past around 7pm - no cars or lights on and then about 8.30 I called my sister and said - did she see who was taken in the ambulance etc etc etc and my sister said I don't understand the reason for your call - I've told you all I know and that an ambulance went to the house and your friend ran to meet it and she then said you haven't called her have you I said no - I texted and with that she hung up .............. I still haven't heard from my friend and am extremely worried - I can deal with my sisters wrath but am worried about what may have happened and all I can do is pray for her 2 children - I was awake from about 2am - 5am thinking about it.

So Keren29 in answer to your question - you sometimes just do what you think is right at the time - you helped out a friend in need and I well ignored my sister to send a text of concern

Keren you did exactly the right thing. I would have gone over too. To be honest at times like that it doesn't matter what the history is with a person, if you consider them to be a friend, you have to help in their times of need. If he felt you were the person he needed right then, you had to go. If it had been my ex I would have gone (if only to stamp hard on said broken foot :) )

Besides, it might not do any harm what so ever for your OH to realise that other people do see you as a kind, helpful person. And if he's a little bit threatened that won't do him any harm either!

Keren you did exactly the right thing. Good for you. No guilt required.

  • Thankyou DB, Toto, hypno.

I think he did feel a bit threatened (he likes to be in control) but it wasn't as if I leapt out of bed like Superwoman saying I must save him or anything like that. I was really confused as to what to do - help out someone who had asked for help or refuse so it kept my OH happy because of who it was. I was with my ex for 14 years and although it was best we split when we did and I'd never have any feelings for him in that way again, we are now on good speaking terms. I'd never have forgiven myself if it was something worse and I'd said 'no'.

    Hi everyone

Well I have done nothing this morning apart from watch a bit of tv, make breakfast and get me and the kids dressed - love lazy Sunday mornings (sound like Homer now!)

Im going to clean the downstairs today, iron daughters uniform for tomorrow and sort out some paperwork that is balanced on my desk!

Mum and Dad are away for the weekend so off to feed their cat later - what exciting days I have!

Hope everyone is well x x

Keren, you did the right thing. I can see why OH felt a bit threatened but sometimes there are situations where that's the lesser evil, so don't feel guilty. Just make sure OH still knows he's number one... if you've never stayed friendly with an ex it can be hard to understand how other people manage it.

I have just done the craziest MSE thing I've ever done. I recognised a possible scamsters address so I just casually went down there to see if I could snoop. I am an MSE guerilla at the moment, which makes a nice change from MSE gorilla! I'm not sure what the value of the journey was, other than to confirm my suspicions that it was a small flat that people are operating from, and that there is still at least one line of contact open to people. Anyway, from what I can make out people still might get their stuff, so

Hahaha - I know the feeling - I'm sitting here listening to the washing machine do its thing - I've unloaded dishwasher and put everything away - roast dinner is cooking and I've stripped the beds. Still have to make the beds and put the ironing away and tidy upstairs - I think I'm on here now because I can - when husband and son get home I won't be allowed on it - then this afternoon while my son has his nap - husband will be doing some work on it so won't be able to get on and I will nip into the high street and hopefully finish my christmas shopping - then all that will be left to buy for is my husband ..............

I bet that while you are making those 3 cards you keep hitting refresh !!!!
