Think I was sent a refurbished phone not new one when I upgraded.

Options
Just upgraded phone yesterfday, received supposedly new phone today except I don't think it is.

Went to set it up and it felt "wrong" it's an iPhone 7 and when I press the home button it feels like the whole phone "clunks" I posted elsewhere and did some googling too and learned about haptics but even turning haptics and other sound settings off using the home button feels exactly the same.

There was a photo in album I have never taken the clock isn't working properly and I'm pretty sure there's apps on there that don't come ready loaded and which aren't mine either.

Will of course be calling provider tomorrow as this is not in any way acceptable!

Can anyone advise on any of this either tech side (what could I check to see if it is a refurb?) Or on the customer service side? Feeling really cross right now!!

  • When you switched it on for the first time did it not have new set up screen?
Even a refurbished phone should be reset to factory settings.
Did you buy from a reputable dealer or someone off EBay/Amazon?
  • (A) why “upgrade”... it’s not often good value compared to keeping your phone (or if broken buying separately) and looking around for a SIM only deal.
    (B) the iPhone 7 is no longer sold by Apple, so yours is either NOS (“new old stock”) or secondhand.

    Partly bump partly updste.

Spent last 3 hours trying to sort this all out with provider now awaiting replacement phone and call from complaints team. Customer service very low quality. Still very unhappy with how it's all been handled

Bought from major uk retailer/mobile phone service provider.

New set up screen but a few issues with setting up, seems to be something wrong with housing, personal data on phone that's not mine, battery was part charged ...

Why upgrade? Old phone went bust. Completely unusable. I'm disabled so need a working reliable phone don't have a landline. Can't afford to buy outright and do sim only. Been with this provider for many years with no problems until this week.

New old stock I understand are they not even selling to retailers? But I ordered and am paying on the expectation and description it's a new phone and I don't believe that's what I received

It's just very disappointing. Not only in terms of the product but I've been told some complete nonsense by some of the customer service agents I've spoken to today plus they weren't listening to what I was saying e.g. I'd tell them some info they'd repeat it back to me then ask a question that the answer was in what I'd just told them.

Ok something weird just happened. I'm typing this on another device, the iPhone is charging next to me, all the little icons on the home page just flashed once each in sequence left to right too to bottom then paused then did it again. What on earth?

It's also REALLY slow to charge.

Ooooooooooooo that sounds interesting nobody's mentioned such a thing to me.

How do I do that? Is there one you would recommend ?

Apple said they'd no record of an issue with this imei number but acknowledged they aren't always notified.

Check what date the phone was first activated (it'll be exactly 12 months before the date shown for warranty).
