Good luck with the debt pay-offs, I can sympathise as I've been there and done that to the tune of over £10,000. What I found helped was to have a list of each individual bill on a spreadsheet so I could see that each got paid every month but I also had a running total. The running total was always an odd number, say... £9763.29 and I HATE ODD NUMBERS!! So, I'd push to the limit to round it off to the nearest fiver. In the above case, I would pay an extra £3.29 to the smallest debt and continue this on a weekly or monthly basis, however regular the payments were. It actually gets quite addictive after that and sets you in good steading for saving change.
Now, the only coins I will leave in my purse are 50p and £1, everything smaller goes into my sealed pot and the £2 go into my £2 savers box. :D

I'm now totally debt free, use credit cards for almost everything, and always pay the balances in full each month. I also won't buy anything unless it has an offer attached and bank whatever the difference is that has been saved. These savings are now going towards my 'buy a house' challenge :)

How do you keep track off how much savings you have done in your weekly shop? as you said you bank the difference..so say you got something for 1.99 but should cost 3.99 you would bank 2pound..but on a weekly shop how would you keep track? as it doesnt usually show up on till reciept as sometimes if u get something reduced to say 10p but should of been 68p that doesnt show on till reciept.

Use two bowls the same size. Paper Mache each one, when dry remove the bowls and then paper mache the two halves together.!!!!

I'm going to do this challenge again next year. It's quite simple - just work out your budget and then everything left over each week is saved. But you need to set a very tight budget. I'm going to start a new thread for the challenge so it doesn't interfere with this one :)
