  • I love this idea, I have actually tried this a few times and always dip into it at a weak moment! :( Just to ask, do you all keep a note of how much you are putting in, as alot of the posts seem to know roughly how much is in the pot without opening, or do most of you just put the money in and get a nice surprise when you open it at the end of the year?

I think I just found a better pot to use. Someone on my local Freeshare site is giving away 2 demijohns (1 clear, 1 brown). Fingers crossed I get the clear one.

Ok my purse is ready to burst. Would anyone object to me sticking my change in my tin now instead of on the 2nd? I know i'll end up spending it otherwise.
Cant decide how much to set my target at. I wont be counting how much i'm putting in as i want to have a nice suprise when it comes to me opening it next year. I'm thinking £350 is a realistic target and it would certainly be a huge help.
I can see this is going to be another one of those addictive challenges:p

  • I've been thinking about this , a little sad i know!! When I start im going toi keep a record of 'clinks' A clink being every time a coin goes in. That way i'll be able to keep a record/motivate myself but not actually know the value as i'll just be keeping a total of the number of coins IYSWIM (finally worked out what those initials mean now!)

Just to advise that I opened and counted my pot last night (a plastic quality sweet jar from last xmas) and it came to £116.:j :j

Very very pleased with that, I have paid it into the bank today and will be using it to finish the xmas shop at the weekend.

Please count me in for the new challenge as i cant quite believe how much we have managed over the last 10 months, just by putting in loose change every weekend.

good luck to all who are opening their pots soon.
