Hi
I'd like to join this, hope it's not too late? We're going to start it on the 1st January.
We put odd change away anyway so on new years eve we are going to count whats in there and bag it up then start again. I'm also going to sellotape it shut so we can't dip into it like we do now :rotfl:

Yes it does lose the interest, but would you really use the odd coins in your purse/pocket to make a payment against a debt or just spend it.. At least this way it has a chamce of building into a useful amount the we can do something with.
Can I join please, i have a very large teapot, coins fit down the spout. I have glued the lid in place so will have to break it when full but it does match my kitchen perfectly.
Will someone explain how I get a Number please.

I can understand what you mean but If i am in a shop and I see a magazine i fancy i would n't think oh i have a Credit card debt of £5000 i must keep that 60 p to pay off it. however With this challenge I know that i will challenge myself to put at least 5 coins (small change) in the pot daily, so I will think if I buy that mag i will not have enough coins to do that and wont buy it.
I know this is odd thinking, my husband thinks I am mad too but it works. Last year I did a similar thing on my own and opened it on dec 1st to find £631.89 in it. this I used to pay off my overdraft in one go so I got there in the end. I know it cost more in interest but I dont believe i would have paid it off by now if i had not had my little pot.
I wish I could be stronger and just pay these small amounts directly but i would feel stupid paying little amounts (i.e pence) off a large credit card bill.
I dont know how every body else feels, but as I said it works for me.0 -

Theres people on here who might be doing it for other reasons other than paying off debt.
A lot of people are doing it to save for Christmas! I am doing it to help save towards my house deposit plus i find it fun...Now a SAHM trying to earn some spare pennies each month0 -
