  • Try that and let us know how you get on.

Powerwashing is simple and your chromebook will restore as it was, from your profile, just like a smart phone does these days. Just make sure you have nothing stored on it that isn't saved elsewhere that you want to keep i.e. not on your google drive.

I can't say however that I've ever had to do this, as ours doesn't slow down at all over the time we've had it. I'm guessing you have enough storage i.e . you aren't getting alerts saying it is almost full- so I'm not quite sure what clearing data would achieve?

I'm guessing it was working fine at some point? Pages should load without any delay, even if streaming/downloading etc. at the same time.

It seems a waste that at the first sign of a problem the inference is to bin the laptop. The first thing I would do as said is check my internet connection and reset the device. This is basic and it concerns me this hasn't even been tried before you are ready to write it off. Good luck with a refurb windows laptop is all I can say, if this is the default position when an issue crops up and things aren't running as quickly/smoothly as they should.

I thought the OP had already "sold" the Chromebook to CEX? (Or have I misread that?)

Yes that would appear to be the case. Missed that.

Wow- that was hasty at the first sign of a problem.

Now that is ironic. Since you were one of those who convinced him to scrap his perfectly good HP Envy 15, for a 'trouble free' Chromebook. You should be hiding your face in embarrassment.

You did. He sold his perfectly good HP Envy 15-ah150sa (N7H25EA#ABU) to CEX, for possibly as little as £100.
Fitting an SSD to it, as I suggested at the time, would have saved the hundreds of £s spent on the Chromebook and now possibly even more on another laptop.

Instead, some insisted that he buy a Chromebook. Poor.

    I'm looking at you benson1980.

Nothing wrong with chromebooks. The chap said he wanted a chromebook and liked apps on the playstore. What else were people supposed to advise? You evidenced your complete ignorance regarding chromebooks when you tried to tell me I couldn't get playstore apps on mine.

Perhaps rather than being so hell bent on telling everyone who will listen that chromebooks are rubbish, be a bit more objective, perhaps, and help diagnose the problem. What he was experiencing wasn't down to having a chromebook. There was obviously a fault, and you have cracked on and encouraged him to bin it. Perhaps look a bit closer to home, rather than criticising others who have given honest advice and tried to be helpful.

Where have I encouraged him to bin it??
What he actually binned was his perfectly good laptop in the first place.
He has two devices on which he can properly utilise Android Apps. The implementation on the Chromebook is not the same.

You crack on and get the Chromebook fixed. It's your responsibility. I'm certainly a lot more helpful around here than you.
Your recommendation, so get it sorted. You did not even supply a link in order to help the OP reset his Chromebook. Very poor.

The chap said he could google it. Most people can. I dip into this forum and try provide a bit of help. If I'd picked up on this post earlier I would have certainly helped him get it fixed. This is what I was trying to do, and didn't spot that he'd already flogged it, because you just egged it more and said that those who recommended chromebooks somehow hoodwinked him and we need to stand up and be counted. Give me a break- utter nonsense.

You post a lot more, because I'm guessing you have a bit more free time. Whether you are more helpful- extremely debatable.

I have noticed that the other ChromeBook offender has thanked you. :rotfl:

Yes, he could Google it, but so easy for you to supply the correct link in the first place, in order to make sure that he goes to the right place.

Helpful? Note the topic title of this thread. He is certainly not asking for any more advice from the ChromeBook comedians.

For the third time....point out where it states that he has flogged it or even that I suggested that he should get rid of it.

If you cannot even read nor comprehend what has been written, how can anything you advise be relied upon?

You can make as many excuses as you like. But all in all, an extremely poor show from those who insisted that he should buy a ChromeBook.

Your ideas were that it would be maintenance free and more than up to the task. Clearly this has not been the case.
That leaves the OP having to wait for the ChromeBook 'experts' for advice when something goes wrong.
