  • Yes! If the mattress is stool tall and than pushed up the stairs, it’s easy.

Does this mean you've managed to get the mattress up the stairs?

If not, why not post some pics of the problem - not the mattress, the stairs and bedroom door openings.
  • Hi, no I haven’t tried because I do need more hands. I had to think long and hard, plus ask many people.

I think it will be done if it’s stood lengths ways (2 metres) and pushed but in this shape /

    Wait and see!

I wonder where the mattress comes from? New mattresses are delivered in a roll, two guys will deliver it up into the intended room - pay them extra they'll unpack and put it in place.

When I bought a new bed earlier in the year (standard double), had great fun - not taking mattress and two divan halves downstairs, but I did it - by myself. Slid the mattress down the stairs on its side.

You have a very limited experience of mattresses!

I pulled one side of the sewn in handles off the mattress

Could you rope it through a handle and get somebody at the top just to take most of the weight even if they're not manoeuvring?

The handles on a mattress are not designed to take it's weight pulling it up stairs, they are there just to reposition/rotate it on the bed. They will rip out if you try to pull the whole weight through one of them.

  • Ikea one costing £700. Pocket sprung. Yes I too thought it would be rolled, but really this is far too thick.

Exactly what I did to mine trying to drag it up the stairs. Came flat as far too thick to be rolled.
