Barclays Closed Account and CIFAS marker placed

Hi there, where to begin.
My son recently sold an item on gumtree. The same person ordered more the next day so multiple people transactions. He was paid in three transactions. The seller wanted postage to Spain. So he located an advert off gumtree to arrange the delivery, this particular advert mentioned Spain in their delivery destinations and was quoted a good price. Cut a long story short the items were never received from the woman and He couldn’t get any real proof from this courier they had even delivered. The buyer was coming to England couple days later, so he swallowed the loss allowed them to collect what they originally ordered.
Since then the person has reported to the bank that they never received items I imagine or something along those lines. And then claimed back the money. My son transferred me the amounts as he didn’t have a bank card to withdraw from. ( and recently his account was compromised and people tried spending money he didn’t have in there, so skeptically didn’t want any money left sitting there. He also never told me he was doing so, not that it would of been a problem but the fact of the matter makes it even more evident that I’m not a party in any of this.
So my sons account with Nationwide is currently under review all they can say is suspicious activity. And informed him was todo with the transactions from the person who brought the items. Currently awaiting a decision still but no real information has been provided plus he’s expected to provide evidence to prove he sold this to them or to provide receipts for things he doesn’t have such a postage receipts. So we’re assuming he will get the same outcome as I’ve prematurely had.
Well my bank with Barclays has already closed my account; without any notice or reason. And I’ve been issued a CIFAS marker. I have banked solely with them for nearly 30 years, not once ever had a problem. And to have a report thrown against me when I’ve done nothing wrong I find disgusting. It’s left me in financial troubles due to owing 4K on my Barclays credit card with them; and making me miss all my direct debits due to them registering a being paid, although they’re all cancelled by the bank.
I really have no idea what to say or do. Considering I’m not part of the sale at all, I never even knew the funds were in my account until I received a message saying my standing order was cancelled. I don’t online bank and haven’t been to cashpoint or bank to view my balance and only time I know is upon monthly statement. The money my son transferred to me was still sitting in my account. £465 £340 £250 were the amounts.
Strangely it’s only the £250 that was taken from my account from Barclays from what I could see on the monthly statement. Would of thought all of them?
Can anyone please advise me on what I can do? I’m not overly concerned on saving my bank account with Barclays as how I’ve been treated, but the problems and stress this is causing me is too much. I stand to default on my direct debits and my credit card due to Barclays incompetence.
Many thanks

First question is why did your son not use Parcel force or another option for sending the items to Spain ?
How was his account compromised ?0 -
Your son is telling you porkies.
Lets be honest here about the real reason he transferred the money to your account. Whether you like it or not you became complicit in this when you accepted the money from your son.0 -
So when the buyer came to England, how were the items actually handed over. Having already swallowed the losses on the first non-delivered items, did your son not think to either send the items recorded delivery/registered/by royal mail parcels if large with a signature on delivery or if he handed them over not ask the purchaser to sign a receipt?
The bit about your son's account being compromised and people attempting to spend money from it that he did not have is odd. Can you clarify just what happened.
Why does your son not have a bank card? What sort of account has no card these days?0 -
His account was compromised meaning some unauthorised payments were on his account, so he reported them and had the account frozen and the card stopped. Upon waiting for his new card he split with his girlfriend and never received it. Had to change address etc and get new card delivered taking a couple of weeks and in the meantime this took place.
The buyer was coming to England a couple of days after the postage was deemed undelivered by my son due to unable to contact the delivery company. So my son allowed the buyer to collect the items out of good will; know he had lost the postal fees and items he sent. The items were large yes and my son wanted to save as much money on postage as well all do.0 -
bogof - for a start your wrong in assuming that’s why he sent me the funds. If he was smart enough to defraud these people of their money. Don’t you think he would of just withdraw his cash from the bank providing ID ? Or maybe sending it elsewhere? Stupid to send to your parents bank account no?0

Its all very murky whats gone on.
Your son hasn't helped the situation by transferring the money.0 -
It’s murky indeed after a very awkward sale, all this to battle through!
The transfer to my account was as explained due to not having his bank card. But he never informed me has was transferring me anything nor did I know.
My son being innocent or guilty; how does this make me guilty? If I knew about the funds, or spent them, or anything I could understand but there is no evidence to support that I did. Because I genuinely never knew.0 -
Your account is part of the trail where the money was transferred - I.e has been involved in money laundering.
So you need to involve the authorities (with the correct story) or fess up on here and be done with it.0 -
Let’s make is easier for you. If money was sent in to your account without your permission no matter who it came from.
You didn’t spend any of the money.
You never even knew it was in there.
Are you now liable for fraud? Hmmm. I don’t see how I become liable for fraud.0 -

Oh stop. It stinks to high heaven of bull spit. Just own it.
And yet again we have a tall tale by a "new" poster. Pull the other one.0
