Help finding the cheapest flight to Calgary (immigration)

Options
Hi all

I'm moving to Canada in the new year. I finish my job here at the end of the year and plan to move sometime in January, although I have no fixed date.

I'm trying to find the cheapest possible flight. Although it only has to be one-way, I'm looking at return trips as they are usually cheaper.

Does anyone have any recommendations for finding the cheapest possible flight to Calgary (from Edinburgh or Glasgow) in January? I have been checking ITA matrix and the cheapest I've found is £462. Unfortunately for date ranges you can only search in 7 day increments.

Thanks

It costs around £244 to fly directly from London's Gatwick to Calgary in January. From Scotland to Gatwick is your choice.

Thanks. I just need to get to Gatwick with 4 cases (basically my life), no car and January public transport, and have it be cheaper overall than my local airports where I can get a lift from a friend! i will look into it though. Good to know, thanks :)

Definitely better to get all that checked through all the way to Calgary from the very beginning. :)

Easyjet have a service wherein you can connect to the WestJet flight from EDI. From around £294, but adding all that baggage will push that price up.

Thanks. Yeah, the issue is that I'm taking my whole life with me! So realistically it needs to be from Edinburgh/Glasgow. It's looking like a return flight is going to be cheapest but just wondering if I should spend time checking prices for return trips months ahead of time, just to see if it may result in a lower overall cost? I CAN get a cheaper one-way trip if I'm willing to accept a 22 hour travel time! lol

You might still have to pay extra for baggage for a return trip, dependent on how many checked-in pieces that you intend to take with you.

The flight with EasyJet is around sixteen hours in total.

If you had student credentials, you would have it easier.

Thanks. I appreciate the input. I have had a quick look and could get a one-way rental from Edinburgh to London for around £80 which may be an option.

I'm trying to limit what I take, but i'm not shipping anything so I'm taking all I have. I'm hoping I can reduce it to 3 cases.

At the very minimum, even with a full service airline, you are going to have to pay for at least one extra case, if you mean three checked-in cases.
