Stressing about completion!!

just think once exchange has gone ahead, all that stress will disappear at the end of that phone call/email from your solicitor to say it's taken place
Once you are finally in this will be a distant memory...very much like childbirth, no control over anything and then the end result is so worth it0 -
I have obsessive compulsive personality disorder (not OCD, that's a different thing) and it sounds like you might have. Always worth doing one of those online personality disorder tests to find out more and understand why you feel the way you do when you are "not in control". It helped me understand why things stressed me out so much.
We have just exchanged, are waiting to complete and are getting ready to move into a rented house. Everything is going pretty smoothly but I am still getting stressed out. There's so much to deal with and I get stressed when people don't act in what I regard as a professional manner (eg letting agents not bothering to respond to my emails).
It's a very stressful process. The most important thing is to recognise you are getting stressed and keep a sense of perspective. Try to get your partner to help as much as possible (especially if they don't get stressed) and talk with them when you are getting stressed, I find that helps defuse things for me. Also, learn some good relaxation exercises, like 4/7/8 breathing (Google it).
It will be over at some point and then you will be able to really enjoy your new place.0 -
Thank you both for your kind words. I wish I wasn't this way but I can't help it. Everyone has noticed a change in the way I am and I'm trying to not let it affect my day to day life but it is. I just wish everything had gone to plan as it it had this would all be over by now!0

While we were going through the whole house hunting / buying process which went from us talking about us buying our rental to being given notice just after we'd also booked a very expensive trip abroad, I had some wonderful friends who were on hand with many tissues and coffees / hot chocolates - one even did a 4hr round trip to do an emergcny coffee break.
However, you will get through it, I can look back now and view it for what it was, I'm also a person who likes order and control and it's hard when you're relying on others. Hang in there, you'll come out of the other side and when you do, just remember to thank those that were there for you.Feb 2015 NSD Challenge 8/12JAN NSD 11/16

Thank you. I know it won't be forever I'll be feeling this way but I really wish I could fast forward this next few weeks/month.
Guess it's all part of it but never stressed like this before. I've never had a mortgage as rented previously before meeting my partner and on the house where we are now he's a sole mortgagee as he had it before I moved in.0 -
Are you sure you aren’t just feeling excited about your move?0

Jellytot123, you're not alone. See this thread on the 'Marriage, relationships and families' board:

And see my comments on said thread. I really, truly understand how you're feeling. It's AWFUL. But it does end I promise....:)0 -
You'll be ok. I exchanged/completed (same day) last week and after months of waiting it all happened within four days. Maybe it'll be the same for you and you'll be standing there with a set of keys in your hands wondering how this happened.
I totally get where you are coming from with the mortgage as well. It is completely terrifying but you've worked really hard to get to the point of actually getting this mortgage so you should pat yourself on the back.0 -
Awww brilliant it all worked out for you. I know there's no reason why anything should happen with the mortgage as its all been hard checked and underwritten etc already and there's been no change to our circumstances but I just worry.0
