Hello to the returners and newbies :hello:

I'm so glad to read that I'm not the only one to have had a bit of a blip. I could try blaming the cold weather; CH is now on for the winter and it was 7c when I went out for my walk at 10am.

I've been doing a bit of decorating and its been too easy to grab a few fig rolls and choc fingers instead of stopping to prep lunch but I was up early and a bit more organised today.

B - mini crustless quiche, tomato & cucumber
L - ham and melon salad
D - salmon curry, boiled rice & broccoli
    Jan - June Grocery spends = £531.61
    July - Grocery spends = £103.53
  • Hi everyone,
    Just reporting in for today...
    B -
L - toasted teacake with butter
    S - banana and 2 spoons yogurt
T - shepherds pie with carrots and courgettes (no cheese and the meaty bit was half mushrooms) followed by fresh pineapple.
Not good, but not terrible either.

    Catch up tomorrow then.
A bit of grin and bear it, a bit of come and share it
You're welcome we can spare it, yellow socks

Great start Sirens :) and thanks for the link, I'm always keen to find new soup recipes as I eat a lot over the winter for lunches. Like you I find that I do better if I write down what I eat and write menu plans but don't always do it

Today's plan to be good started with good intentions until a two hour meeting turned into five and a overseas visitor brought in a large amount of baklava and Turkish delight from Dubai . Lunch ended up as a working lunch so no walk either

    B - fruit and yogurt
L - last of my minestrone soup and pineapple
D - Nasi Goreng, slightly different from my usual recipe but very tasty and left overs for lunch tomorrow
    S - baklava and Turkish delight. :o

Ooh I love Baklava Brambling it's hard when you get something particular yummy and that you don't have often, they say a 'little bit of what you fancy is good for you', it's the 'little bit' I have trouble with though!
My Mum is currently in America on holiday and I'm hoping she doesn't bring back too much food with her.

I stuck to plan except for a little bit of cinnamon roll cake that I'd made on Sunday that was begging to be finished up.

  • Everyone's food sounds delicious. I went out shopping to a market today and couldnt find anything suitable to eat in the cafes so i had to just buy some chicken breast slices and wholemeal rolls from Aldi, and improvise in the street! :o

    Shredded wheat.

    chicken roll.

    Eggs on toast.

    Box of grapes.

Good morning People! Well done SIRENS!

Honey your improvised lunch was good quick thinking!

I stuck to plan yesterday, except the “apple or tangerine” turned out to be a pear! At my friend’s, I got away with just one large fruit scone and two teaspoons of her HM jam. One square of chocolate, no other snacks.

Today’s breakfast has just been porridge
Lunch plan is herb omelette with salad, followed by an apple
Dinner (plan) is HM veg soup, rice & lentil salad with chopped veg, cinnamon yogurt

  • Hi,

I've been doing quite well at missing breakfasts making a 16:8 sort of fast.
The plan for today is to try fasting til teatime, making a 22 hour fast...
I'm not sure I'm going to be a natural, but FrugalLina has inspired me. I shall let you know how it goes. Fingers crossed.

T - will be another rice and sauted veg mix up, with the last of the thai curry sauce from the other day. Banana, kiwi and yogurt for pud.

I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.

Thanks Sirens for the soup website link, that is giving me some new fresh ideas to stop me becoming bored with my usual repertoire. I love homemade soup. :T

Good luck with the fast until teatime, Tighteningthebelt, it is tough, but you do get used to it. The hardest bit is late afternoon, when dinner seems far away. It does get easier, best thing is to keep busy.

Don't be disheartened Molly41, your recovery from surgery is important and I am sure once you get your strength back, the scales will cooperate. :)

Yesterday was a fasting day and I was ravenous at dinner time. I had a huge amount of veggies (some from the garden, yay) with some meatless chicken nuggets, which I have never had before. They were good. I followed it with some Ryvitas and faux cheese and two Nakd bars.

It obviously wasn't enough because last night I dreamt I was eating bread and scones with lashings of butter, waking up to stomach pains, so had to take two Rennies. I am glad today is an eating day! :rotfl:
