You have never been with TalkTalk have you? We left them years ago but are still getting similar calls to yours all because the scammers hacked into TalkTalks customer database. TalkTalk were fined but their customers both past and present are still being scammed.I feel like claiming compensation.
Scammers now have the technology to mimic an official telephone number so it comes up on your caller ID display. That is why you are getting a different number each time0 -

You can pay to have numbers blocked that happens at the exchange.0 -

No, never had anything off Talktalk.0 -
It is easy to spoof a number, or so I've read. I'm glad Apple added the "silence unknown callers" feature for iOS 13.0

The pragmatic and practical answer to nuisance calls is a trueCall plug-in box (various versions available), a handset with trueCall features built in (such as the BT 8500, BT 8600, BT Halo, and others) or a phone provider that has deployed trueCall features on their network (such as Sky or TalkTalk).
This is not a dumb system that simply blocks unknown or withheld numbers. Verified numbers get straight through. Unverified numbers are challenged to say something, and your phone does not ring until they do so. Scammers usually just hang up and therefore your phone doesn't ring.
If someone does say who they are, you have the option of answering the call or simply cutting them off, with a further option of blocking the number if you want to. For calls you answered and wanted, there is the option to add the number to the verified numbers list so the caller won't be challenged next time.0 -
Good sense prevailed and I phoned my Bank, who kindly informed me it was indeed a scam..Phew!
Not that long ago, I had an interesting call with my bank - the matter was resolved but they never adequately explained why the call from them that turned out to be genuine, came from a number listed as suspicious/fraudulent by their own number authentication checker...!0
