Receiving scam call

Options
Why is it that after receiving scam phone calls when I go to reverse number look up sites to register it there are no other reports - in the past there were lots?

Some recent calls here come from an apparent mobile number.

The number may or may not be genuine, possibly on a SIM with unlimited calls that's been put in a GSM gateway against T&C, perhaps in use for only a few days and likely to be cut off any moment soon for abuse and/or non-payment.

I can't be bothered to report the number that called twice this morning, and maybe nobody else will either.

I just had a scam call telling me "Emergency! 600 quid has been taken from my account!"..Even though I knew it was most likely a scam, I still damn near had a heart attack! I checked the number on the 'who called me' thing, and it was not listed..So I nearly had another heart attack..

Good sense prevailed and I phoned my Bank, who kindly informed me it was indeed a scam..Phew! True, I only had a £3.64 in my account so they wouldn't have got anything..But one can't help feeling somewhat violated by this sort of nonsense.

As far as I know they're all "spoofed" I suspect that what's happened is that people were simply blocking the common nuisance numbers, and it's as easy for them to use a random number.

Get a phone with "Call Guardian" or similar.

We are getting scam calls that look like localish phone numbers. I have caller display & do pick them up.
I'm sure BT could do something about this but they want money off you for having a device for blocking them - but our exchange is a bit of a corrugated iron shed thing and not capable of doing this - or, this is how I interpret the last call I had with BT about it.
BT make money from these scammers in a round about way.

Did you actually answer the phone & talk to them?
I presume so, especially as the number isn't recorded as scam. Or how would you know it was a scam?
Everybody scams. You can't trust anybody.
    I've been chatting to a bloke for 2 years & I reckon he's a scammer.
    Can't prove it though :(
Usual story. Single stupid naive lonely British woman.
I didn't worry coz I just thought well I'm skint so...
He's white & was born in Britain. Then at the weekend he's on about Thailand & taking me there. Sent me links & pics. Apparently his "friend" owns the hotel.
    Yeah... right :(

    I've been Money Tipped!
I had quite a few over weekend including the "press 1 to speak to an advisor as you are involved in criminal activities, if you don't do this in 24 hours your internet will be cut off" in a robotic voice.

BT like every other phone operator has to deliver every valid phone call, before you ask it's an ITU rule..nothing to do with the EU

But you have to pay to stop these calls - so in a way they are profiting from them.

I'm just really glad I've got you lot to keep my feet on the ground.
Coz I can just think well I don't need him & I do have other friends that I can turn to :)
You're a sensible clever bunch & you wouldn't see me get hurt.
I know if I ever need to chat or ask advice, there you'll be.
