Finally have a day off work so will be busy trying to organise things at home that have been neglected over the past few days. Seems like a mammoth task and I’d rather be sat with a cuppa and my book, but needs must...
- Make chilli for dinner - have some sad looking veg in the fridge to use up in this.
- Update banking and spreadsheets.
- Update diary with spends over past few days - I’m not sure I’m going to like seeing this
- Scan receipts onto reward app.
- Load of laundry and hang out to dry (weather looks ok but some ominous looking clouds on the horizon).
- Scan more items onto Ziffit to see what they might accept.
- Trip to recycling centre with some items cleared out of the garage.
- Check survey sites x3. Cashed out £15 yesterday which is going straight into the emergency fund.
- Exchange two pairs of shoes that MIL bought for DS for a bigger size (am convinced this boy is going to be well over 6ft when he’s older - currently nearly the same size as DD3 but half her age!).
- Collect up change to add to sealed pot.
- Hopefully have a NSD
That will do for a start! Add in all the housework and the day is looking pretty full already!
Have a great day folks!Beware of little expenses. A small leak will sink a great ship.

This morning my MSE-ing backfired! So one of the things I've started doing recently is the washing up in the morning rather than OH, who seems to continuously run the tap, doing it when he gets home from work (although it's technically his "job"!) Well this morning it took longer than I thought and I ended up running late and didn't have time to make my lunch! So more expensive in the long run! Oh well, I tried!
So now that I've told my rather uninteresting story, here's my list for today:
* Do washing up
* Put a load of washing on 30 degree eco wash
* Check banks
* Take lunch to work - FAIL!
* Check OP/PA
* Update spreadsheets
* Snap receipts
* Hang washing on airer
* Dinner out with a friend tonight but will drive
Think that's everything! Hope you all have a good day!Debt as at 5 June 2023 - £15,600.89

Afternoon all
Spent the first part of the morning cooking - I had a pack of Lidls mince in the fridge, and halved it. Made a cottage pie base and a big pan of bolognese, using up some bendy celery sticks, the carrots I rescued from a soggy plastic bag yesterday, some leftover gravy, leftover tomato sauce, a few fresh mushrooms, a few jarred mushrooms in oil and various other bits and piecesThe fridge is now pretty clear of shrapnel after this, and yesterday's efforts
Then decided to go for a picnic, as it is dry but forecast to rain later, so we took the camper van to a Canals and Rivers Trust place just a few miles from here, and went for a nice walk with the dog along the canal. Then made a cuppa and ate our lunch. Only spend apart from the little bit of fuel used was £1 for parking, and OH paid that
Since getting back I have been doing some tidying in the garden, and potted up some seedlings I have grown in the greenhouse
Posted some RM surveys items that didn't arrive till after their supposed posting date. They aren't very quick at answering messages at the moment
The rain is supposed to start in about an hour.
May well light the stove if it gets cold (we did last night) but intend to leave the 'proper' heating off for as long as possible!0 -
It's ridiculously early - but I was really tired last night (spent the day Spring Cleaning, then worked 4pm to 9pm) so I had an early night. As I rarely sleep more than 5 hours, it means I was wide awake at 4. Never mind, today's a day off, so I just get a longer day off!!!
MSE things that will be happening today (hopefully)
- continue with the Spring Cleaning (yes, I know it's October, but I like to bottom the house out twice a year, October and March). Yesterday I tackled the living room. Today I'm hitting the dining room. Not quite finished - need to polish the family silver (won't take long...)
- the heating is now on. Not sure if I'd have it on yet myself, but I don't want the lodger to be cold. That's my excuse and I'm sticking to it...
- arrange to stay with my son for three nights next month. It'll be a nice break and I'll only have to pay for petrol. I'll probably take them out for a meal (it's my birthday). Sent him a message, haven't heard back yet.
- takeaway tonight. I have a takeaway once a month - but because portions are so large I eat half and freeze half. Tonight it's the turn of the frozen half. Really looking forward to it. It was delicious.
- I need to shop. Current weekly average is £18.52. Done. Spend £13.66
- I need to do a couple of loads of washing. The weather is foul and the forecast is worse, so it'll have to dry indoors. Washing done, and draped around the radiator in the bathroom.
Keep warm and dry - this wet weather can't last forever. Can it?No longer a spouse, or trailing, but MSE won't allow me to change my username...0 -
Morning trailing and all who follow :hello:
My list for today:
Paid spends of just for points credit card
Check banking, last money shuffle of funds back to main account for the month
Portion chicken I didn't do yesterday
Cut up pineapple
Cut up mango
Triage fridge
Do meal plan for next week
Send card from stash to someone having a difficult time
Minimise chaos caused by extension being knocked through :eek: luckily only 1 room is in a state and it'll be like if for a few more days yet.
Heating still off despite expanse of new bit of house being very 'fresh' due to not being finished :rotfl: jumpers and hot water bottles are definitely our friends here0 -
Morning, glad it's Friday...feeling better today, decided to cancel my gym membership which is a whopping £85, painful but necessary. That is going to help get me out of overdraft.
* Make DD lunch for college
* Frozen pizza and chips for dinner
* Surveys, doing well on this, just time consuming
* Work
* Tidy lounge

Hi,
Its been a long and busy week, hope everyone is good.
We've been really busy with catering events and we've managed to pay off our overdraft, all our CC card payments are up to date and it feels really good, we have payments of around £400 still due in and lots of orders for October, Ive even managed to put £90 in the xmas pot
We had a smart meter installed yesterday - thats keeping me busy, turning things off
Ive put on the dishes and a load of towels
I have 3 friends staying tonight so i have to move everyone around bedrooms and make all the beds - kids aren't happy
I am going to Bingo Lingo tonight which is some kind of fancy Bingo - I don't go out so this will be weird
Have a good day all

Morning all
OH is going to a funeral this morning, which is sad, but at least he won't be under my feet listening to doom and gloom on FB or the parliament channel. I share his concerns, but can't do anything about it, and it is affecting my moodStill, it makes me go outside in the fresh air to get away from it I suppose!
So, today's plans:
Phone company to confirm tent repair, quote is more expensive than I had hoped, but it needs doing and is too complicated a repair to attempt ourselves. Once it is done I can put it away so it isn't under the dresser in the lounge any more :T Done
It isn't raining currently so will aim to do a bit more tidying in the garden (sky looking ominously black though :eek:) Managed to get a bit done before the rain: took out the runner beans and composted them, picked off what I hope are ripe French bean pods and composted the plants. Bean pods now drying by the wood stove - hope the dog leaves them alone!
Bit of weeding
Pruned 1 apple tree. I will need OH to help with the others as they are too tall to reach without the long arm thingies and I can't manage those
Some cleaning / decluttering needed Sorted out a bag of clothes for the charity shop. Sorted out an annoying drawer in the lounge, put cables for various small bits of tech together in a tin and labelled it, as opposed to them being just stuffed in the drawer, and threw out some rubbish - and I do have an awful lot of candles :eek:
Listed 3 books on ebay and one has already sold
Meals will be from home, and no spending except for tent repair which needs to be paid for upfront. Tent paid for and will be collected next week.0 -
Morning everyone
Many thanks to everyone regarding the stairs and landing carpet. I would have liked to have done a little bit more research on the carpet side but when the universe stepped in it really did resulting in sorting out stair lift out,old carpet up, new carpet in etc very quickly. It was draining just because of the speed of everything so it all starts next Tuesday.
Must ring an electrician I've found.
Also ended up having to do paperwork that was suddenly required, nearly up to date and throw in a couple of doctors appointments with a minor procedure.
But have been pacing myself as everything was getting a bit much
Have started back on the RM survey main panel. Just doing the test bit
Have decluttered some items ready to be sent to charity including used stamps and 7 of DDs bras. Will use the stamps from the RM surveys
Have been using up bits from the fridge for a tidy up
Been doing a tidy up as i go along. Will do a thorough clean once the carpet is in.
Banking all checked, everything good even if a little bit battered after spending out on the carpet and electrical bits.
Must check quidco
Trying to keep the heating off. Heating was on Wednesday night as very cold, last night okay, No heating on now, outside wet and muggy
Plan for today is to get the parcel sent. Weather was very bad this morning so will wait for a break and then go out.
Tidy up of the kitchen and finish sending bits of paperwork hat need to be sent today.
Great news on the wins Ziggy. U've done really wellDecluttering challenge 2023🏅⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
