  • The Dell has a external video display port with USB over type C, HDMI.

Is this where I would plug in a DVD/RW Drive?

I’ve been looking at them on Amazon and a lot mention type C.

Those are two completely separate things. Type C is a USB port. You also have three USB Type A ports.

You can use any of the four. External video has nothing to do with an optical drive(CD/DVD/BD). External video is for an external monitor.

If you go for the DELL, don't neglect to add the free Student bundle; https://mcscom.co.uk/product/student-computer-bundle-15-6-laptop-rucksack-wireless-mouse-16gb-usb-flash-drive-and-hdmi-cable/

    https://www.encore-pc.co.uk/liteon-ebau108-11-6-external-dvd-rw £18 with discount.

    £20 via Amazon.

I'm sure you can find a cheaper drive if that is what you want.
  • Thanks again.

Good spot re the student pack.

They’ve also advertised it on eBay, but for £385 or best offer. eBay are currently giving 10% off which matches their website price. I’ve offered a little lower but don’t think I’ll get the student pack. I’ve got plenty of HDMI cables, flash drives, a wireless mouse, but the rucksack would come in handy. I’ll see what happens in the morning.

I only wanted the dvd drive to put my Microsoft office copy on the new laptop. I’ve just copied the files from the disc onto a flash drive so i hope that works when I enter the code.

Dependent on the version of Office, you might be able to retrieve it from here; https://www.microsoft.com/en-gb/software-download/office

But really no need for a optical drive for just that.
