Thank you very much for your time and advice.

To be honest the thought of shelling out £340 to a company I’ve never heard of for a laptop with a dented lid is something I’m not keen on. Although it looks like a good deal.

I really only need it for browsing & word processing, storing small files etc,, It is possible for you to recommend the best for my budget from Curry’s, Ao.com, Very, Amazon, Argos, John Lewis etc,., I could always sacrifice battery life & screensize but would like Windows 10 full version.

I did want a disc drive but can see those are hard to come by.

Thanks again to all who have advised.,

    It's a reputable company....
The fact that you have not heard of it means nothing.
Most here have heard of PC World....
Once the warranty period is up, all the companies become the same.
    Good luck...
  • OK, I've checked them out and they look ok to me.

I'll go with the Dell from mcs.com

I may decide to go ahead and fix the dent on the screen cover. Do you know if it's just the top lid cover I need to replace or would it be the screen also? Is it an expensive fix.

I have searched for the part but not really come up with much.

I'll have a look at the HP. If any issue with the DELL, simply return it for a full refund.

For your usage, the HP would be fine. It's not as good as the DELL, but of course there will be no damage anywhere.

Inferior screen, SSD, CPU, no USB Type-C...but it has the DVD writer you like and of course, the battery will be unused..

You can send a message to the seller, requesting details and also requesting the Service Tag.
You can enter the Service Tag here to get a better overview of the device; https://www.dell.com/support/home/uk/en/ukbsdt1
This kind of business will be expected to know more than just a seller of the devices.
  • Thanks again for your time.

I’ve emailed the seller of the Dell. I’ve also found several used replacement lids, one for £25. Of course it depends on the cost to change the lid itself.,

I expect to hear from the seller Monday, I’ll make my mind up then.
