Parking Eye - is it a scam

I stopped in Aldi car park to buy food for a picnic then drove to wales to go surfing. Luckily I paid for my parking electronically and got a receipt to show my car was parked there from 3.15 in the afternoon. I received a penalty parking notice from Parking Eye claiming I was in Aldi car park from 1.30 (when I stopped for five minutes to buy food) until 7.30. Despite sending the parking receipt they rejected the appeal! I can probably contact Bridgend council to get c c t v proof from the car park - but should I have to? Especially given the photo ‘evidence’ provided by parking eye were really dark and showed only a tiny part of the car. This could easily have been doctored - or the cameras could be faulty. Has anyone else had this problem?

At least one person has had a PCN cancelled by complaining to Aldi Customer Services (the advice here is usually to go 'to the top' i.e. the store manager or CEO):

Looks like a case of double-dipping i.e. the two visits have been conflated. A search for 'double-dipping' will help to get you up to speed. Don't miss the POPLA deadline, but definitely complain to Aldi straight away, explaining the circumstances & insisting on cancellation. Even then, do not identify the driver - it's 'we parked to buy food', 'we' all the way through.

You are describing a double dip scenario; very common with ParkingEye. To save us typing, search the forum for double dip as keywords and learn from all that has been done before to cancel these.

DO NOT ignore it; P/Eye will sue you.
