Is iPhone 7 still worth buying?

So while I've been dithering the iphone 7 128gb black seems to have jumped up £80. The other colours are still at £429. I just can't get myself to stretch to the XR as I don't fancy spending that much. So I got to thinking that is I manage my storage better I could get away with 64, meaning I could get an 8 at £479. That would give me an extra year's usage and is available in black.
Just had one question. Is it possible to back up photo's from an iPhone to a hard drive or does it have to be to Itunes or iCloud?0 -
I think it's still worth it to buy an iPhone 7 or 7 Plus at least for the next several months provided the battery is still good or you can get it at a low enough price to justify paying Apple to replace the battery. For one thing, the A10 processor is fast enough to rival many phones in use today.0

How does it compare to the Samsung Galaxy? Say if you didnt want an iPhone.
(I hear the Samsung is more durable plus keeps it battery better over its life span)0 -

For photos, you can back them up for free using the Google Photo's app. You can set it do to it automatically and keep your iPhone fairly empty if you'd like. You can then access them from a browser and download them to a hard drive if you'd like too, although the cloud storage (free) and availability from anywhere might be better?0 -

Don’t get too carried away with an old phone, the iPhone 7 has a trade-in value of “up to £100” at an Apple Store. Bear that in mind if buying one.JohnDorian wrote: »So while I've been dithering the iphone 7 128gb black seems to have jumped up £80. The other colours are still at £429.

You can backup photos to a Windows PC, load the Apple iTunes software on the PC (I think you get an automatic prompt to download it when plugging in an iPhone to your PC).0 -
I got rid of my Samsung S9 a few days ago and have been using a 5s as a temporary measure. Surprised how well it works!
Amazon had the 7 in black with 128gb for £432 so have ordered one as felt it is the right price for memory plus should be good for 3 plus years.0 -

Out of interest, why did you get rid of the s9?JohnDorian wrote: »I got rid of my Samsung S9 a few days ago and have been using a 5s as a temporary measure. Surprised how well it works!

I bought an iPhone 6S back in February when my old Microsoft Lumia started to play up (ie bits stopped working until it just became a telephone with a camera as a bonus).
Works fine for me and I anticipating keeping it for considerably longer than 3 years (until it becomes a telephone with a camera!!). I was reluctant to leave the comfort of a Microsoft phone for a totally different operating system but can confirm what has been said above. It all does what it needs to do via the PC as well (and if you disable the iCloud photos and use OneDrive instead you don't get the annoying "you have run out of space in your iCloud Storage" message. I am far too tight to pay for iCloud storage on top of what I already have. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. It was on it's third battery. The screen began to flicker as well and touch screen would not work at times. After much complaining they finally agreed to refund me trade in value plus £75 which I took as I couldn't be bothered by the end.0
