I’m weird I don’t like bread and butter pudding!
I love the tip about Philly-toast flotante, am going to try this at some point. For me, croutons made from rock bottom YS bakery bread (no more than 20p per 800g, mind), rapeseed oil and salt and pepper are irresistible.

Ham hock in the slow cooker with baked beans, other canned beans, canned tomatoes, pearl barley, lots of chopped root veg, stock cube & some water & leave on low all day.
When you get home, pull the ham hock out & strip the meat & dispose of fat & bones.

I make this regularly minus the beans I use red lentils or split peas, and add a generous amount of thyme about 10 mins before end.Do I need it or just want it.0 -
Not a lot to add that we eat regularly here really, apart from corned beef hash, spicy lentil soup, sweet and sour slow cooker chicken and Cumbrian tatie pot made with potatoes, onions, black pudding, lambs kidney and neck end of lamb. Oh! And rabbit pie with a potato pastry crust. It's a wartime recipe my mum used to make and very filling.0
