Just one silly question? These charts to print off, how do you convert them on to the canvas?

You need to use a fabric that makes it easy to count ('Aida - 14 count', for e.g.). With this, the threads are arranged into 'blocks' and one 'block' = one stitch over the two threads in the block. Once you've put in your first stitch all the others follow in relation to that. Some people work in complete rows, changing colours as they go, but I've always found it easier to work little sections of colour at a time. I shouldn't worry about things like half stitches and backstitching/outlining to start with. You can pick that up later once you've got the basics. Hope this makes sense

Blimey moggins, its much more difficult to explain than to do....honestly!

    I've been Money Tipped!
I used to love making samplers (have one to be finished now) but my sight is not what it used to be and I don't get on so well with the magnifier glass thingy that you hang aroung your neck so the kits are piling up!

Thanks Allexie. I know the problem, that's why I find it much easier to take things in when I watch rather than read or listen :(

I used to love making rugs but the kits are more expensive than buying a ready made rug :(

moggins ... did you make latchhook rugs? Did you know you can make them with rags? I make rag latchhook rugs and apart from the outlay on canvas cost next to nothing to make!

Ok, so I don't stick to a "design" but that's what makes them so unique.

I usually make Christmas cards and I've made bookmarks as gifts before.

This year, I am intending to start a BIG project (for me) I want to stich a wedding sampler but I'm not really sure what I'm looking for. Does anyone know of any sites which have samplers on?

I have a vague idea of what I want but if I can see some ideas I'll use some Jo verso or other to personalise the people (give the the right style/ colour hair, put the man in his work uniform etc.) and the place (because they're not getting married in a church) etc. I'm not really sure what a sampler should look like so I'm reluctant to design on using bits and bobs of other designs until I know I'm doing it right :)

Thanks for taking the time to look Allexie, I've been having the same problem, it's all cute with hedgehogs or a bit boring and old fashioned in a not-nice way if you know what I mean.

Looks like I'm going to have to get to the library and make one up using bits of others. Good job I've got a year to do it :D
