So we have men cross stitching but who is the youngest crossstitcher?
I'm 24, cross stitch christmas cards and the odd mother day present, but all my friends think I'm mad as I cross stitch instead of going out drinking. Sometimes I wonder if they are right!!0 -
haven't done any cross stitch for ages (my hands aren't as good at behaving any more) but my 11 year old daughter is always either knitting, sewing or doing cross stitch. I don't remember the last time I bought anything for her to sew with though, she usually unpicks old clothes or picks up packs of threads with her pocket money. Wonder where she gets that from?0

For all the stitchers then ... do you make unique gifts from your crafts? Or, do you simply make things for yourselves?~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Just depends at the moment I am stitching a owl in flight as a Birthday present for my mum. Got to pull my finger out needs to be done by september
I bought a tuck pillow from someone and stitched winnie the pooh as a present.
I have a lot of kits and charts waiting to be done.
Most of it will be for ourselves. As my husband stitches as well. Good job we have moved from a one bedroom flat to a 3 bedroom house. I can now put all the finished items down the stairs. :rotfl:

I mostly make cards, too. When my dd was young she used to make little pictures, so have both our boys as well. None of them do it now though. Dd is making a rug for her baby - not cross stitch though. And she will have to start making another one - cos baby no. 2 is on the way!0

I made a "victorian scissor keep" as a mothers day pressie - like a little cushion, fancily decorated, with nice embroidery scissors tied on so you can't loose your scissors as easily. Except I had a few problems with the stitching at the end (I can x-stitch but not sew!!) so it was definately a present only a mother could appreciate! The cross stitch was faultless, though!!0

I tend to make a lot of pictures for people. gave a lemon tree to my MIL and a 40th wedding sampler and the woman I share an office with went to the amlfi coast last year so I stitcher her that for christmas. she was stunned. :A first picture i stitched tho is a bit sad as it was for my mum and she died before i finished it (she sat on it a few times shoved under the chair cushions if she came 'round!). finished it when i sat with her the night before her funeral - needless to say it takes pride of place on the piano. she was more a knitter but i take after my nana and great grandma apparently - have even found the tablecloth my nana was embroidering when she passed so i'm going to finish it before i am 40 (3 months  )! just finishing off a load of miners and then onto the celtic summer....... i have suitcases on top of the wardrobe which i am hiding from OH!!!But I'm going to say this once, and once only, Gene. Do you cross stitch....Yes, but not for a while! (Most popular answer)
ermmm...wonder if this site has anything to do with that? :rotfl:
I've stitched cards, pictures of all sizes, needle-cases, scissor-cases, specs-cases and cushions in the past. All now given away. Some were made with a particular person in mind...some just cos I liked the pattern.♥♥♥ Genius - 1% inspiration and 99% doing what your mother told you. ♥♥♥0 -
Hi everyone I haven't been cross-stitching for a while now(due to this website and others).I did make over 50 bibs and I found that everybody really liked them as a baby gift. The biggest project I did was a linen tablecloth and 6 napkins with beautiful small roses it took me over 3 months to finish but the friend who received it for her wedding was stunned.
I used a lot of waste canvas to cross-stitch on baby grows and children's clothes
this is the website i use:j
