Nuisance calls regarding internet

I have started getting called obviously automated ones from someone saying my internet access will be discontinued within 24-48 hours Its driving my crackers I am getting around one to two every hour At the moment I have just left the receiver off the hook to stop the constant phoning I wouldn't mind but I am registered with the TPS and have been for 16 years since I lst my husband Is there anyway I can stop this constant phoning apart from getting rid of my landline altogether

If you are with BT they have call protect you call 1572 after each unwanted call and it stops that number calling again no cost involved.....but these scams re vamp the numbers and you may find you constantly have to do it...

I too have been with call preference and ex directory and still get them....since Monday have had 6 calls pre recorded asking me to press one to continue with Amazon Prime....which don't have and certainly never take an option to speak with them....goodness know where you might be redirected to and charges etc

Call Preference is a waste of time. All they do is issue an advisory list to call centres and have no teeth to enforce it. I suspect some call centres use it as a list of numbers to call.

No these calls are automated with a message telling you to press 1 etc.
  • Yes I was getting the same some months back on a far too regular basis despite being registered on the TPS.

I started BT Call Protect and blocked international calls and it has stopped it.

The only problem is that blocking international calls can block incoming Voice Over IP calls which are usually provided by overseas companies. I use VOIP myself so I am aware of this as being a bit of a problem and it is not really an elegant solution. However it is effective because I have not receive one of those calls since I blocked the international calls.

I'm also Ex directory and registered with TPS but have had several clusters of these calls. Most recently on 2 separate occasions when I was, in fact, having internet issues and frequent phone calls to John Lewis Broadband tech people:cool:

My solution is that I don't answer any call from a number I don't recognise. If its important, they'll leave a message.
