it is an adaptation of a chicken recipe, so lamb or chicken work equally well. i usually use neck fillet, but i guess most cuts would be ok.;)

throw a couple of chopped onions into slowcooker with small amount of oil, and add a teaspoon (or so..) each of ground ginger, turmeric and cinnamon, add chopped lamb and about a pint of stock and a tin of chick peas. i blend up another tin of chick peas and add this to the mixture as it then gives it a good thick gravy! i usually add some apricots at this point and then let it get on with it for the day;) . towards end of cooking i add some almonds, whatever i have in the cupboard, usually flaked(?) ones. season to taste and serve with cous cous.

    smells wonderful whilst cooking also:D

    Hiya all

Think I did pretty good last week with sticking to the meal plan. Only had to change 1 day, as I miss counted the mince in the freezer.

Hope fully this is what we're having :

Sat - Chicken, curry mayo, lettuce in pitta bread with homemade chips
Sun - Roast Pork, roast spuds & parsnips, carrots, cauli & brocolli, peas & sweetcorn & yorkie puds
Mon - Bangers, mash & veg
Tues - SPag Bol & Garlic bread
Weds - Jacket Potato, beans & cheese
Thurs - Chicken, in Campbells mushroom soup, served with pasta
Fri - usually take away as kids go to their dad's after school!

    Thats about it.
    Have a great week!

  • rightho - don't usually do a meal plan - just fix from freezer whatever takes fancy, oras I am on mat leave at the mo - sometimes I cook something nice - but usually pop to the supermarket in the day to get ingredients.
However as we have been doing a pre xmas run down now not much left in freezer or cupboards but I think I have cobbled together enough meals for a week.

    Sat - Pizza and salad
Sun - Chicken wrapped in bacon (sausages for dd), roast posts, stuffing balls, yorkies, veg
Mon - Potato gratin, fish in breadcrumbs
Tues - Chicken Goujons and Criss Cut chips veg or salad and bread (got to be a quick dinner as I have to be at school governors meeting by 5pm)
Wed - Crispy pancakes - dh, chicken shapes for dd, poached haddock for me, and fish or mash depending on what is wanted , sweetcorn
    Thurs - Pasta Bolognaise
Fri - Scampi (fishfingers or fishcakes for dd), Oven chips and peas. Bread and Butter.

so that leaves very little in freezer - babies purees, some frozen fruit.
Freezer also has some strudel, ice cream and choc lollies in it so they will do for puds with tinned fruit or yogs if puds are wanted.

Extra prob the dh is off work for three days this week (finishing spare room for dd, so she can move oyt of her room and the baby with have her room) so will need lunches too, I will have to get some sausage rolls and bits tomorrow when I go to get milk, bread, yogs fruit and veg for week.

Right, ok, think we're sorted, because I have spent so much time on the internet and looking for what to cook I forgot to get the brisket out for tomorrow, so will keep that for next week and do toad in hole instead. Probably easier as DP is away for most of the day and evening anyway.

Saturday - lasagne, eaten already :D
Sunday - Toads in holes with Sunday dinner veg and spuds
Monday - Curry, prawns for me and chicken for DP and DS2, DS1 plain chicken
Tuesday - Pizza before we go out
Wednesday - Gammon joint done in coke, pinching shells idea
    Thursday - Out
Friday - Chilli & rice for us, pasta and sauce for boys

Shouldn't be too many changes I don't think, lunches I need to work out now, see what we need. Shopping list I am hoping to keep small as my budget ends a week tomorrow.
One day I might be more organised...........

Everything sounds so good... My plan this week is :

Sat - sweet & sour pork with egg fried rice
Sun - roast beet with roasties and veg
Mon - lemon & chilli prawn pasta
Tue - chicken and garlic mayo wraps
Wed - pork and potato curry (from the freezer - just need to add the potatoes to bulk it out a bit since only really enough for one!)
Thu - macaroni cheese with pork & leek sausages
Fr - Green thai curry with rice
