Esa report

I have just had my esa50 .
Currently in support group and first review exactly one year after last.
I never requested my report from last assessment, can I still do this now or would that be frowned upon to do that now?
Is this a good helper for things to put on the esa50 form to keep you in support group for example as to why the chose to put you in it last time?
And do they review last assessment or look at you with new eyes so to speak?
Thanks for any advice

My advice is always get hold of evidence generated in your case. I see no reason why you cannot request a copy now...I assume these things stay 'on their system' for some time... it's the ESA85 assessment report.

Yes it could be helpful to your re-assessment... if it supports what you say your problems are I'd be inclined to refer to it in your ESA50 and include a copy.

It is very possible that your last assessment will be looked at along with other evidence you provide including your competed & returned ESA50 to determine both whether you need a face to face assessment and ultimately determine what descriptors apply.

There are 3 possibilities regarding what will happen after you return ESA50:
    a) The assessment company consider sufficient evidence to provide their advice to the DWP in relation to the Work Capability Assessment criteria
    b) they think with further information such as from your GP they can then potentially do as per a
    c) they ultimately determine a face to face assessment is required to provide advice to the DWP

c is the more likely outcome but greater evidence and indication of no change probably advances the possibility of a or b.

Ultimately the DWP take the decision on entitlement and their decision detail can also be requested.

    Request it from DWP.
Information I post is for England unless otherwise stated. Some rules may be different in other parts of UK.
  • I went on their websites, there are over 100 phone numbers.. Which one to call

Call the DWP number on your benefit letters to get hold of assessment reports or speak to them about your benefit. Be prepared for a long wait... like possibly over an hour in queue judging from my experience of ESA number.

As you're claiming UC then it will be these you need to ring, part of DWP but not ESA as advised above.

You can also put a note on your journal to request a copy of the assessment report, which is called UC85.
  • Thank you poppy.. Will ring uc tomorrow.
  • Muttley, I never got a letter.. I just received a call a day B4 the assessment that I need to attend next day.. Not even a 24hr notice..

Sorry I missed your post above... yes.. follow Poppy's advice since you're claiming U/C rather than ESA.

Must say your case seems quite peculiar... following timelines I've never seen reported before. But definitely get a hold of the assessment report UC85... helpful to know the evidence in the background of your claim and potentially useful to use as evidence in next assessment... it might also shed some light on why your case is seemingly unusual. To add... you can also ask for a release of records held... I did because I wanted to see internal communications on my ESA case surrounding re-assessment plus the decision maker paperwork. Here's link if anyone needs it. https://secure.dwp.gov.uk/personal-information-request/name
