Do retailers notice which bank card you use?

Say if you had a basic account or normal current account or a premium account? If they are taking card payments all day they must notice people financial strengths and weaknesses. I.e credit worthiness. I know when I had my basic nationwide account which was a bright red debit card I was self conscious about it.

I doubt the majority have any idea of or interest in the "status" of a card. I used to be amazed though at the number of people making large value purchases on a debit card.0

No. They're more concerned with whatever the till is telling them they have to flog you / that they're supposed to collect your postcode or email address / that they've taken off security tags / whether you'll want a bag / when their next break will be. They won't pay much attention to your card other than whether it works or not!0

No I don't believe they do, it's no business of the retailer knowing the credit worthiness of its customers.0 -

lol! When I worked in retail we judged you on the car you got out of in the car park, didn't need to see your bank card to see if you were trash or not!0 -

I remember many years ago my friend wanted a brand new car. He went to one dealership straight from work, arriving on his Hammerite blue painted Velocette LE sporting his good old Belstaff jacket and trousers with pudding basin helmet and goggles. The dealer was very disinterested in his enquiries making it clear he thought he was a time waster who couldn't afford one of his shiny cars so he went elsewhere and paid cash. Never judge a book by its cover !worried_jim wrote: »lol! Got to do it when you get paid on completed sales, no point wasting your time with the "binners". Spend as little time with the trash as you knew their credit applications would never go through and the sales would go in the bin as they had no other way of paying for it, hence the term "binners" and concentrate on the customers getting out the nice cars as these would be paying for the roof over your head and putting the food on your families table- common sense in the world of the jungle.:cool:0 -
Well whenever I use my diamond-studded Amex metal black-with-extra-gloss card in Aldi the cashier always gives me a smile...0
